The Ascended Master AFRA and the Plan for Universal Brotherhood – 1996

LECTURE: The Ascended Master AFRA
and the Plan for Universal Brotherhood
June 27, 1996

TRANSCRIPT:

I would like to ask all of you, then, who are sitting approximately in the first three or four rows to give your places to the sons and daughters of Afra so that they may gather close to the altar for this dictation and lecture. So those of you who are in those seats, [65-second applause] please give them to the sons and daughters of Afra. Come on, sons and daughters! [applause] Come on! Yeah! Way to go! Here you go! [applause] Woohoo! Yeah!

One of the great saints of all ages is known as the Ascended Master Afra. He comes to address us in a very timely moment in the history of the United States and the world. He comes to show us how we must deal with racial hatred, bigotry. He tells us that the prophecy of failure and of strife between whites and blacks need not be.

I think that you will see and understand when you have the vision of the Ascended Master Afra and you see the painting of Afra by one of our artists that there is the warmth, the kindness and the tenderness of heart. Afra has come to unite his people and to show them that we are all brethren, black and white and all others upon the earth.

When you think about the great contributions that the black race have made throughout this world, I must say to myself and you must say to yourselves, this world has been and has become a far greater place because the Ascended Master Afra and the sons and daughters of Afra are here.

I ask you now to hear this lecture and this dictation based on the teachings of Afra.

Almost thirty years ago, the famous Kerner Commission that examined the rash of urban riots in the mid-sixties prophesied, quote:  “Our nation is moving toward two societies, one black, one white—separate and unequal.”

I will tell you that this, from this day forward, is a false prophecy because in the name of Afra, we are determined to see this prophecy fail!  [63-second standing ovation]  Yes, it will fail.  [applause continuing] Prophecies fail and this one is going to fail.  [applause continuing] It’s failing right now.

How many people are in this tent?  How many people are in this tent?  [“One.”]  That’s right.  [laughter]  One!  There’s one person in this tent.  And who is it?  [“God.”]  Almighty God!  [congregation joins:]  Almighty God!  Almighty God!  Therefore we do not number ourselves because we deceive ourselves when we number ourselves.  We are one with God, in God, and we are of God.

Last month, when Ted Koppel asked the former executive director of the Kerner Commission, David Ginsburg, how he would describe the situation today, Ginsburg gave a grim prognosis.  He said the situation is “more unequal than ever.”

With forty years of desegregation laws and court decisions behind us, that statement is startling to many whites.  But to most African Americans it comes as no surprise.

I’d like to tell you about the dire messages and predictions that we receive in the press, in the newspapers.  Those are very important to us because it tells us that the millions of people in this nation and throughout the world are very concerned.  And if we go after those predictions, those dire predictions, and turn them around with what we know, we can turn around a whole civilization, a whole people, a whole attitude.  This is what we’re all about here today.

Everything from the assault on Rodney King to the shocking behavior of Mark Fuhrman to the reactions to  the O. J. Simpson verdict has reminded Americans of all races that racism is alive and well—and that it won’t go away by just wishing it. It will go away, I say, by our dynamic decrees and by the constant remembrance that we are one, we are one God.  Jesus Christ was one God.  Moses was one God in manifestation.  And in that oneness, all the universality of the peoples of earth were arced in that dispensation.  If we lose our sense of oneness, we have lost the battle.

That’s my message to you, sons and daughters of Afra.  I want you to remember that.  The oneness of God in us is the victory.  Today we may have hundreds and five hundreds, but the planet is going to be covered, not with black or white or red or blue or purple or yellow.  The entire planet is going to be populated with extensions of Almighty God coming forth from the Great Central Sun.

In this we will find our total victory.  And we will be amazed to feel the presence of God descend upon us like a mighty mantle.  And with our scepter we go forth and we draw in the multitudes by the Great Central Sun Magnet.  This is possible today.

Lest we forget, week after week on the nightly news we watch another black church burning in the night.  It is not the good people, the black people, the white people, or any other people; it is a state of consciousness.  There is a rotting in this nation because of the extremes of taking in alcohol, liquor, every kind of drug, the most dangerous drugs of all.  There is something very rotten in our society.  But God has given us the power to clean this up.  And we must never, never forget that we have that empowerment because we know the oneness of our I AM Presence.

The number of black-church arsons—nearly thirty in 1996 alone—is now as high as it was during the racist ferment of the 1950s and ’60s.  In the beginning of 1995 Mortimer Zuckerman, editor in chief of US News and World Report, said the “opportunity for racial tension” is “as great as we have seen in this century.”

What I always find is that these are reports coming to the Mother Flame in my heart, crying out for help, giving us the statistics, telling us what must be done.  If we listen to those pleas and those cries, the accuracy of the news reporting is such that we can use our decrees to consume the very thing that is feared and that will come upon this nation if we dunt, don’t do something about it.

On the face of it, the statistics are sobering.  The percentage of unemployment among blacks is more than double the percentage of unemployment among whites. The average life expectancy of black men is eight years less than that of white men.  Almost one out of every three black men between twenty and twenty-nine years old is in prison, on probation or on parole.  The major cause of death for young black men is murder.

These things must not be and they shall not continue if we agree together on earth in Jesus’ name that they will not continue because we will take our swords, we will take our decrees, we will take the fire of the spoken word and we will change by the alchemy of Saint Germain this country.  Saint Germain’s alchemy is here for you, for me, for all of us.  [10-second applause]

In 1960, 22 percent of black births happened outside of marriage.  Today that number is up to almost 70 percent nationwide and more than 80 percent in the cities.  This is a disturbing statistic because it means that an overwhelming number of black children will grow up in families without fathers.

But perhaps the worst statistic of all is the measure of hopelessness.  The display of solidarity at the Million Man March inspired hundreds of thousands of black men and their families.  But a Time/CNN poll taken that same month found that 56 percent of African Americans believe that discrimination against them will never subside. In other words, there is a vibration permeating the community of hopelessness.  And when we have hopelessness, we can barely raise our bodies and raise our heads and feel that we have the dignity of our own personhood.  Write down “hopelessness” as something that we want to see consumed throughout this nation and the world.  It must be consumed because we cannot go after and challenge this burden unless we overcome some of these conditions that are right within ourselves, such as depression.

Randall Kennedy, a professor at Harvard Law School, warned after the O. J. Simpson verdict:  “Many Americans don’t grasp the deep sense of aggrievement among blacks at all levels of the social structure, and don’t see the constant irritants that nourish that sense.”  In other words, white people are blind to this condition.  They do not see it.  They do not understand it in their brothers and sisters.  “There are large dangers ahead unless ways can be found to din, to diminish this alienation.”  Alienation is the word.  No matter what we do, no matter how we try, we, the sons and daughters of Afra, will never be accepted.  That is the lie.  And the lie must be challenged.  And we have the tools and the Archangels to challenge it.  [10-second applause]

Everyone is looking for the answer.  How can we close the racial divide?  How do we change America’s habit—and it is indeed an ingrained habit—a habit of prejudice that most people don’t even think they have.  Where do we begin?  With economics? politics? education?  As Mark Prophet would say, “The answer you’re looking for is inside of you.”

To resolve these issues we must indeed look within.  But to understand these issues, we must also go back in time, back into the annals of an ancient civilization that once existed in Africa, back to the story of the patron of Africa and of the black race.

Enter the Ascended Master Afra. Afra was the first member of the black race to make his ascension.  Long ago, he sacrificed name and fame to sponsor a vast continent and a mighty people.  When Afra ascended, he asked to be called simply “a brother,” or frater, in Latin.  And so “a frater” became the name Afra.

The black race was originally part of what was known as the blue race and the violet race.  Their skin actually had a subtle blue or violet hue.  These souls lived in a spiritually advanced civilization that existed on the continent of Africa.  Each nation is called by God to manifest a specific virtue or fulfill a certain destiny.  The members of what is now known as the black race were sent to earth to master the qualities of the use of God’s power, his will and his faith (on the blue ray) and the qualities of freedom, God’s freedom, justice and mercy (on the violet ray).

Afra lived five hundred thousand years ago when the people of this ancient civilization had reached a crossroads.  Aliens and fallen angels  who had invaded planet earth divided the people.  Now, this may sound like science fiction.  But truth is ofren, often stranger than fiction.  These evil angels set out to destroy the blue and the violet races.  They distorted the once-sacred rituals and art forms of this people.  This opened the door to witchcraft, voodoo, and black magic coming through the very fallen ones who invaded our planet.  They turned the people toward hatred, superstition, and a vying for power.

As the people began to divert their attention from their God Presence, they became more and more vulnerable to the divide-and-conquer tactics of the fallen angels.  The civilization also became divided by the warring factions of its tribes.  The people were losing the inner spiritual batel, battle.  The people were losing the inner spiritual battle between the forces of light and darkness within them.  And their division—both within and without—allowed them to become enslaved under the aliens.

Seeing the plight of his people, Afra took embodiment among them in order to rescue them.  Upon taking embodiment in order to rescue them, Afra first pinpointed the one missing trait that he perceived to be the Achilles’ heel of his people.  He identified that Achilles’ heel as their lack of brotherhood.

Allegorically speaking, they followed the example of Cain rather than following the example of Abel.  When the Lord asked the people of Afra if they would be willing to lay down their lives for their kinsmen and friends, their answer was the same as Cain’s:  “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

You will remember that the Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering.  But he looked with disfavor on Cain and his offering.  As Genesis records it, Cain was very wroth and his countenance fell.  And the Lord said unto Cain, “Why are thou wroth?  And why is thou con—and why is thy countenance fallen?  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?  And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.”

And Cain talked with Abel, his brother.  And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and slew him.  And the Lord said unto Cain, “Where is Abel, thy brother?”  And Cain said, “I know not.  Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The one who answers no to that question is dedicated to his own ego and he will never be his brother’s keeper.  And eventually the divine spark within him—the threefold flame—will die.  Afra knew that many of his people had lost their threefold flame, even as many blacks and whites through anger are losing it today.  He also knew that in order to regain that flame, they would have to follow a path of brotherhood.  They had to care for one another—a deep caring, a soul caring, a profound love that comes from the Holy Spirit, that comes as a ray of light directly from the heart of God.

The only way he could teach them to be a brother to all others was to be a brother to all others himself.  For this, Afra was crucified by his own people.  He was the Christ in their midst but they knew him not.  They were blinded by their greed for power—the concept of power mentioned earlier in this lecture.  They went after human power but they also went after the power of aliens, the power of fallen angels.  When we get into that level, then we have to wage war as one concerted people in locked arms.

The calls and invocations we have to make about this people and for this people and all people on earth, regardless of skin color—which is really meaningless in the true sense of the word—we must be working hard with our labors.  We must be calling to the Great Central Sun.  When we tackle the practices of voodoo, black magic and witchcraft which we find on the continent of Africa and elsewhere, we will be waging a war to the finish against fallen ones who invaded this planet and determined to manipulate the peoples of this planet, not just one race but all races.

The Ascended Master Afra has delivered but two dictations through the Messengers.  He delivered his first dictation in 1976 at our conference in Accra, Ghana. He spoke on “The Powers and Perils of Nationhood.”  Afra stressed the theme of unity and of dissolving our differences in the fire of the Holy Spirit.  In order to have the Holy Spirit and to dissolve our differences in the Holy Spirit, we must give up our desire for human power, human prominence, and let the Christ in us go before us as we step back and watch the miracles that Holy Christ Self, that Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, will perform in our name.

Now, if we want revenge more than we want the Holy Spirit, we will be lost in the miasma and the mists that hang over Africa from one end to the other.  We will be lost in this, lost—and I mean having to reincarnate again and again and again.  We can choose to be Cain.  We can choose to be Abel.  It’s the point of Christ or Antichrist.

There is a lot of pent-up anger in blacks today.  But there is pent-up anger in all kinds of people.  Look anywhere on the news.  Look at any nation.  Look who is blowing up American citizens in Saudi Arabia with great glee.  Nothing is unique to one people.

One thing I have learned in all my travels, there are great and marvelous and holy people in every nation, in every race, in every religion.  You cannot categorize, you cannot say these people are all terrible and these people uv, are all wonderful.

So, it boils down to “the Holy Spirit or me.  I’m the important guy. I’m the big guy here.”  No, it’s the Holy Spirit.  It’s the Holy Spirit.  When we have the Holy Spirit, we will not have a sense of what body we are in, whether a body of light, whether a body of the Messenger, whether the body of your Holy Christ Self.  We will have that clothing and that mantle that comes to us through the flame of our immortality itself.  It is the threefold flame of everlasting life.

Do you realize that though that flame might be one-sixteenth of an inch in height, or larger because you’ve been on the Path for many years, do you realize that there is so much power in one-sixteenth of an inch of God that it can change the world?  And do you realize when people, through anger, snuff out that flame that what rides in on them is entities and darkness and evil and anger and resentment?

We have to choose the whole high road.  Some people want to go over here and dabble in a little spiritualism, dabble in a little of this and dabble in a little of that just to be sure, you know, just in case, as Mark would say.  Just in case, you know.  [laughter]  You either plight your troth with God or forget it because God wants all of you.  God wants all of you, right?  Do you want all of him?  [“Yes.”]  Do you want anybody else?  No!  [“No.”]  No!  No!  We say no to the whole thing.  No, we only want God and all of him.  And we’ll get all of him if we give up everything else.

Do you believe me?  [“Yes!”]  Have you experienced it?  [“Yes!”]  It’s a terrific experience, isn’t it?

And so, when he delivered this dictation in Accra, 1976, speaking on the powers and perils of nationhood, he is the one who brought to us, brought us to the table of the Holy Spirit.  He said:  “We are brethren  because we are of the same Mother.  I am your brother—not your lord, not your master.”  We are of the same Mother.  He said, “I am your brother on the Path.  I have shared your passion for freedom.  I have shared with you the hours of crisis when you beheld injustice, when you prayed to the Lord for justice and the Lord gave to you the divine plan for this nation and for this continent.

“I have lived in your hearts for hundreds of years as you have toiled under the burden of oppression self-imposed sometimes from within and put upon sometimes from without.  The people of Afra have the supreme opportunity to learn from every civilization and every history.  When materialization reaches its peak, there are only two courses that are open to a civilization:  either material decline and decay because of indulgence, or spiritual transcendence through the alchemy of the Holy Spirit.”

In his second dictation given in 1980—  OK.  We’re going to continue anyway.  In his second dictation given in 1980 Afra said that Saint Germain asked him to convey the following message to the descendants of Afra in America.  He said:  “In this moment, the blacks of America can rise to new dimensions of freedom and liberty.  But this can come to pass only through the threefold flame within your heart, through the understanding of the path of initiation under the Holy Spirit, through submitting yourself, your soul to the altar of God, and calling upon the Lord for an acceleration of light, and a purging of inner darkness.

“Though there were successes through the civil rights movement,” Afra said, “there have been setbacks.  For those successes in many instances were outer.  Having gained them, the people did not understand that they must go within to the inner Light in order to sustain them.  We would seek the equality of all souls whatever their outer ‘color.’  We would teach you a spiritual path of true advancement on the path of initiation.

“Though they know it not, the black people of America today are at the eternal Y.  They must choose this day whom they will serve—whether gains in the line of material comfort and increased well‑being and higher‑paying jobs,” which, of course, are necessities, “or to emphasize the real gain of the eternal light of Sonship and the path of immortality with all of its challenges.”

“In this land of abundance, it is natural for all people to expect and to live according to a higher standard of living.  It is when this higher standard obliterates the inner longing for the higher light and the higher way that it becomes dangerous.  I would tell you that God has chosen this people as those who have become rich in Spirit.”  Rich in Spirit.

This Lecture on The Ascended Master AFRA and the Plan for Universal Brotherhood by Elizabeth Clare Prophet was given on June 27, 1996 (Freedom 1996, A World Convocation of Spiritual Seekers) in the Heart of the Inner Retreat, Royal Teton Ranch, Montana. This lecture was edited to air on Cable TV. See the info below for the longer version of this lecture.

DICTATION: Beloved Afra – I Now Come with a Special Blessing – June 27, 1996

Who is The Ascended Master Afra?

Beloved Ascended Master AfraAFRA is the Patron of Africa.  Afra was the first member of the black race to make his ascension. Long ago, he offered name and fame to God to sponsor a vast continent and a mighty people.

When he ascended, he asked to be called simply “a brother” (frater in Latin), hence the name Afra. The continent of Africa takes its name from Afra, and he is the patron of Africa and of the black race.

You can call to Afra for unity and for the dissolving of racial tensions through the true understanding of universal brotherhood.  Afra, our brother of light, like all ascended masters, has true humility.

Kuthumi spoke of Afra’s humility: “This giant soul with his tremendous devotion was one of the unknown brothers. So long as individuals feel the need to expound upon their own personal achievements, they may well find that they are not truly a part of us.”

The ancient history of Africa

There were ancient golden ages in Africa when it was a part of the continent of Lemuria, when the people came forth out of the light of the great causal body of the Great Divine Director. The Great Divine Director continues to sponsor the divine plan for the continent of Africa, even as he sponsors the divine plan for the descendants of Afra in America.

Many people have ascended from the black race—although from a spiritual perspective, there is no such thing as the black race or the white race. In heaven, the masters are not noted by their race or previous religion. All of the races on earth have come forth from the heart of God under the seven rays, or seven paths of initiation.
