LECTURE & SERVICE TRANSCRIPT

OM AH HUM VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHI HUM. (given 23x)

This is a mantra for our time and for the great balancing of the forces of light within you. Each syllable corresponds to one of the chakras and to the Eighth Ray.

In his sermon to Ananda three months prior to his passing, Gautama summed up the message of his mission. It was the message of the Inner Buddha. It gives me great joy to bring to you this message today.

He said to Ananda, “I am now eighty years old. The end of my journey has come. I drag my body along like a worn-out bullock cart, with great hardship. It is only when my thoughts are completely concentrated on the inner vision that has no bodily object that my body is at peace.

Therefore, Ananda, “therefore, Ananda”–and each one of you is Ananda today–“be a lamp unto yourself. Be an island. Learn to look after yourself; do not wait for outside help. Hold fast to the truth as a lamp. Be an island. Only truth can save you. Do not look for any help besides yourself.

“How is this to be done, Ananda? How is one to be a lamp to oneself and not wait for outside help, hold fast to the truth, and seek Nirvana in the truth? How is one to be an island?

“Let a man, though living in the body, so treat his body that, with right effort, right watchfulness, and right concentration, he will overcome the sorrow that is produced by the sensations that arise in the body…

“Whoever, now or after I die, shall be a lamp to himself, an island to himself, and shall not look outside of himself for refuge–he alone, Ananda, shall attain what is important to be attained. But he must make the effort himself.”

Jesus gave this teaching when he said, “When they come and tell you go here and go there, go ye not. For, look, the kingdom of God is within you.”

On his deathbed Gautama further admonished his disciple: “No, Ananda, no weeping. How often have I told you that it is in the very nature of life that what we love most must be taken from us? How can it be otherwise? What is born is doomed at the moment of its birth to die. There is no other way.

“Some of you will say, ‘The Teacher is no more, we have no one left to lead us.’ But is not the Dhamma with you and the Sangha?”–the Teaching and the Community. “Have I not left these behind? Let them be your Teachers.

“One last word, bhikkus. Whatever consists of component parts will die. Work out your own Nirvana with diligence.”

When we hear these words “work out your own nirvana with diligence,” we cannot help but think of the words of the apostle Paul. He preached to the ef, to the Philippians and he said, Wherefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, and as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. ” God in you, it is God in you–the Inner God and the Inner Christ–working in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Salvation and nirvana, parallel terms.

Gautama’s message on seeking the Inner Buddha as the Inner Light is the same message taught by the avatars of all ages, East and West. We recognize the same principles in the teachings of the great avatar of the Piscean age, Jesus.

Some of Jesus’ original teaching on man’s Divine Self is recorded in the New Testament. The Christian Gnostic texts dating back to the earliest centuries of Christianity that were recently discovered at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, clearly reveal the parallels between the paths of Christ and Buddha–Jesus and Gautama.

In my work The Lost Years of Jesus I go over Buddhist historians’ documents that accurately give us the picture of Jesus’ journey to the East. He left at age thirteen and stayed till the age of twenty-nine when we, he returned for his Palestinian mission. This book is now in paperback if you haven’t read it. It is a very important missing link.

To me the great discovery of these texts from the monastery at Himis and Ladakh is that Jesus did not see himself as born a god nor did he ever claim so to be. He saw himself as a disciple in the lineage of avatars descending from Sanat Kumara. He went to the East to reacquaint himself, to unite himself, with those of this lineage. He spent six years in Nepal mastering the Buddhist texts, the Buddhist, the, the Pali language. He became a perfect expositor of the writings which set forth the teachings and life of Gautama. He moved in and amongst the Hindus. He extolled the Divine Mother and the Mother of the World.

Jesus learned and studied. He became a great yogi. He learned all that he did when he returned–the raising of the dead, the healing of the sick, the casting out of demons, and the challenging of the fallen angels embodied in charge of religion East and West who would deny the Inner Light, the inner teaching, and the true dispensation.

So he challenged a decaden, a decadent Hinduism. He challenged those who would keep from the people the name of God, I AM THAT I AM, the YOD HE VAU HE, and understand that they were not only sons of God but as Moses said, which is recorded in Psalm 82 I believe, I have said, Ye are Gods; and all of you are sons of the most High.

This concept of the incarnation of the Light and of God, the Inner Buddha and the Inner Christ, is what has been taken from us in mosque, in synagogue, in church, in cathedral, in temple. Wherever we have been we have been denied that Light incarnating within us. And we have been told that it is outside of ourselves, removed from ourselves, and can only be embodied by certain individuals who somehow have been made gods before us. And therefore we cannot attain to their level.

These doctrines, then, have been promay, promoted by the Church of Rome, by Protestantism today. And they are chief reason for the dividing of Christian and Jew, Christian and Moslem, Christian and Hindu, Christian and Buddhist in this nation and all over the world. It has been the cause of religious wars of conflict for who would be the superior organization, who would be in control, who would manage our souls. And this has been going on for thousands and thousands of years.

Gautama came to challenge it. Jesus came to challenge it. You and I have come to challenge it today. And believe me, when you are on the front lines of challenging the lie of exclusive Sonship–that someone, only one person could attain to that Inner Light–you find who will persecute you, who will go after you to destroy you and your teachings and your organization.

I have experienced this, I can tell you. But I can also tell you it is the joy of the Lord within me to be on the front lines of this battle with Gautama, with Jesus, and with you. There is no other place I would be in this embodiment than to be at that place of the absolute victory over the forces of Mara and Death and Hell and Satan that have taken from this planet and the people of this earth that knowledge of the Inner Christ and the Inner Buddha. [46-sec. applause]

Now I would arm you for the battle. [laughter] To be victors in this cause you must study and know well whereof you speak. You must know where the truth is and where the lie is, how to defend the Truth and how to show by the logic of the Universal Logos that the lie cannot hold.

So we go back to Gnosticism , which is a term used to describe a group of sects within Christianity who offered what they said was a higher, more advanced teaching that had been secretly handed down to them from Jesus and his close circle of disciples. I have set forth these truths in the, in the works The Lost Teachings of Jesus.

In the second century these groups presented a major challenge to the survival of orthodox Christianity because they disputed some of its key beliefs and practices–especially its teaching that there was no salvation outside of the established Church.

Those who rebelled against this concept suffered persecution, murder, and death–suffered at the very hands, as the Albigenses, of the soldiers of Rome, the soldiers of the pope sent forth to literally kill them, thousands of them, because they proclaimed this universal doctrine, because they were vegetarians, because they believed in karma and reincarnation.

In the second century these groups presented a major challenge to the survival of orthodox Christianity because they disputed some of its key beliefs and practices–especially its teaching that there was no salvation outside of established religion.

Sometime after the Church won the support of the Roman Emperor chr, Constantine in the fourth century, the orthodox powers succeeded in banning and finally destroying the works of all so-called heretics, including the Gnostics.

This is the day of Aquarius and the day of freedom of religion, and if we together do not establish that freedom of religion in the courts, in the world, and in the temples we will see that this age will not have its true and proper foundation. And today there is in America a war against religions that are different, religion that give power back to the people. And the teaching I am giving to you is the power, the restoration of the power of your I AM Presence, your Holy Christ Self. And this why it is so feared. And this is why the church leaders are threatened and they are truly threatened by this teaching. Because when you have it, God is within you and you do not need to cow-tow to an outer ritual or an outer organization that tells you that you must obey living beings instead of your inner gu, Guru, the Inner Christ, and the Inner Buddha.

The suppression was almost complete until the last forty years. We possessed only a handful of Gnostic texts. In 1945 some fifty Gnostic manuscripts, buried for over fifteen hundred years, were accidentally discovered at Nag Hammadi. They were translated for the first time into English in 1977–all that time in between translators arguing, not being able to get together, not publishing these texts, ’45 to 1977. But they are here today and they are translated.

Gnosticism comes from the Greek word gnosis , meaning “knowledge” or “understanding.” Although Christian Gnostics held divergent views, they did share a common belief that the means to salvation was not through faith–as the early ecclesiastics declared–but through gnosis –inner self-knowledge, knowledge of the Real Self, the I AM Presence, and the Holy Christ Self, or the Inner Buddha, knowledge of the unreal self, the conglomerate that would consist of the karma-making self that is blinded by its own self and its own works, which we call the not-self, and the dweller-on-the-threshold.

This was not knowledge in the sense of worldly wisdom, but a, rather a knowledge of the universe and their destiny in it, a knowledge of God, a knowledge of the self as God, your knowledge of yourself as your I AM Presence, as your knowledge of yourself as God. This is not blasphemy. There is only one God. God has individualized that I AM Presence for you and for me and he has intended us to attain union with it. And that is what Jesus taught.

And I remember those teachings because I was embodied then as Martha, one of his disciples. And I know these inner mysteries. And Jesus came to me from my earliest childhood instructing me on the scriptures and showing me how the ministers and pastors in the various churches of my time, of my hometown in Red Bank, New Jersey, how they were preaching but they were not giving the full truth. And as I would listen to them speak, Jesus would tell me in my heart what was the truth. And as I read my Bible he would tell what was left out and what fragments left were truth.

This truth, then, I have borne in my heart. And the reason I have borne it in my heart is the great joy of seeing the liberation of each, every individual soul who receives this truth and becomes his own divine reality. There is no greater joy in the universe than to see someone enslaved by a false doctrine or by self-ignorance suddenly become the master of his life or on the road to self-mastery as a disciple through the true and correct knowledge of the Truth.

The very same goal that the Gnostics had was sought by the Buddhist initiate: true self-knowledge ending in enlightenment.

In the Gnostic Book of Thomas the Contender, Jesus instructs Thomas: “Since you are called my brother, it is not fitting that you be ignorant of yourself… For he who has not known himself has known nothing, but he who has known himself has at the same time already achieved knowledge about the Depth of the All.” We go back to the Bo tree. The Tree of Life is your I AM Presence.

The prophet said, “In this day every man shall sit under his own vine ,” his vine the Inner Buddha, the Inner Christ; ” his own fig tree ,” the I AM THAT I AM and the causal body. And the fruit of that fig tree are your good works and your good words.

In “The Sentences of Sextus,” a collection of wisdom sayings discovered at Nag Hammadi, we read: “Know who God is, and who is the one who thinks in you.” Who is this mind inside of you that is thinking? The apostle said, ” Let this mind be in you , which was also in Christ Jesus ,” which was also in Buddha. Know who is the mind thinking in you. Know when it is the Mind of God speaking to you, thinking through you. Know when it is the carnal mind, the mind conditioned by the flesh and its desires. Know this.

“A good man is the good work of God, a man who is worthy of God, he is God among men, and he is the son of God.”

The Gnostics taught that imprisoned within man is a divine spark, or spirit–also called the “seed of light.” The Ascended Masters teach us that that is the threefold flame in our hearts, the divine spark. If God had not given to us a divine spark, the essence of himself, we could never reunite with him or become one with him.

The Buddhists taught that this, the Gnostics taught that this divine spark was identical in nature to God. It had fallen into this world from higher realms but had become entrapped by its illusions.

This is partly the definition of the soul who must attain union with the divine spark. It is the soul that gets trapped. The divine spark is ever the divine spark, the essence of God. It cannot be tainted.

The Gnostics described this state as sleepfulness, drunkenness, ignorance– man’s worst enemy. Above all, the soul had to be reawakened to the realization of its goal: the ascent of the divine spark back to its original habitation–its Source.

In reality the soul from the seat-of-the-s, of-the-soul chakra must rise to the heart and attain union with the divine spark through the Holy Christ Self or the Inner Buddha.

The goal of the Buddhist is to become fully awakened. When the people would question Gautama as to his identity, he would answer. They would say, “Who are you?” And he would say “I am awake.” [laughter]

Buddha means “Enlightened One” or “Awakened One.” His teachings recorded in the Dhammapada repeatedly emphasize that “the disciples of Gautama are always well awake.”

I AM awake! (given 11x)

Good. [laughter] I am glad you’re awake.

One text from the Teachings of Silvanus admonishes: “From now on, then, my son, return to your divine nature. Do not bring grief and trouble to the divine which is within you.”

In The Exegesis on the Soul (written as early as 200 A.D.), we find the explanation that the soul “received the divine nature from the Father for her rejuvenation, so that she might be restored to the place where she originally had been.”

Now, God gave to us the divine image of what we were in the beginning, and that divine image is the middle figure in the Chart, the Inner Buddha, the Inner Christ. The soul is a mirror. It is a pool. We should be able to look into the pool or the mirror of the soul and see reflected the divine image. That is the goal of our life. When we attain that mirror reflection it “is the ‘resurrection’ from the dead;…the ransom from captivity;…the rising up to heaven;…the way of ascent to the Father.”

The concept of the divine nature within man represented in both Buddhist and Gnostic teachings is the image of the “gold in the mud.” The Buddhists call it the Buddha nature.

A Buddhist text that records the teachings of the Buddha Maitreya dictated to his disciple Asanga explains: “The Buddha-Essence is in all beings at all times.” Think of it. It’s in you now, right in your heart. “The Buddha-Essence is in all beings at all times. The Buddha has said that all beings have the Essence of Buddhahood. This Buddha Nature is present in all beings but obscured by the impurities of the passing defilements.”

The text gives nine examples. The fourth example is: “The gold of a man on a journey dropped un-noticed into a place containing rotting rubbish. This gold, of indestructible character remained in that same place, in just the same condition, for many hundreds of years.” That could be hundreds of incarnations. You could have dropped into the rubbish heap and yet the gold remains untouched.

“One day, it was noticed there by a god endowed with perfect, divine vision, who told someone seeking gold, ‘once you have’ clean, once you have ‘cleansed this most precious thing, this gold here, then do what can be done with such a precious substance.'”

This is what we teach you at Summit University. This is what you actually do day after day for that eight-week course this summer. You will invoke the flames of God through the seven chakras to clear away the rubbish heap of karma and misqualified energy to emerge, your soul one with your Christ Self. You cannot believe the change in the aura, the chakras, the countenance, the outlook of souls who have gone through these retreats, not to mention that you are six thousand feet above sea level in the Northern American Rockies. This is the goal of our communion at these seminars.

This text continues: “In a similar way the Victors see the quality–the Buddha Nature–of beings, which has sunk in the filth-like defilements, and they cause a rain of true Dharma (or Teaching) to fall upon these beings to purify the swamp of the defilements.”

The teachings we give are the teachings of the Buddhas and the Christs of all ages. As you hear these teachings they are like Communion. You are transformed like as if taking the Body and Blood of Buddha or Christ.

The second-century Greek Church Father Irenaeus wrote in his five-volume refutation called Against Heresies that the Gnostics believed: “Gold, when submersed in filth, loses not on that account its beauty, but retains its own native qualities, the filth having no power to injure the gold.”

Irenaeus did us a favor because in his attack on the Gnostics he presents the Gnostic teachings, and his, his records are some of the only sources of those teachings. So that particular teaching on the gold buried in the filth came directly from Gautama’s message. And where did Jesus get it? How did it get to the Gnostics? It came back with Jesus after he’d been seventeen years in the East. That is why Gnostic teaching is so close to Buddhism, and that is precisely why the Church of Rome would have none of it.

These texts were around when they decided what books were going in or out of the New Testament. They threw out the Gnostic texts and chose their own versions which would perpetuate their own organization and their own church to the exclusion of the Inner Christ. So within the Roman Church and the Protestant church today no one is allowed to become the Buddha, no one is allowed to become the Christ. That is doctrine and that’s what Church fathers have done to the message.

I gave a lecture last fall called “The Making of a God.” And I was showing how the doctrines of the Church fathers from the time of the codification of scripture to the present have made a god out of the human man, the Jesus, and denied that God Flame to all others. And if you do not accept those doctrines and teachings today you are still labeled a heretic.

And so Jesus was the lower figure in the Chart, if we can look at the Chart again. He was the human, the person like you and me. He became called the Christ. The word Christos in Greek simply means “the anointed.” He was anointed of the sambhogakaya, the Inner Christ, the Inner Buddha, and the radiance of that Higher Body was upon him. He was also anointed of the dharmakaya, the highest body, the g, the body of the Father. And that is why he said, ” I and my Father are one. ” He was not only referring to his heavenly Father, he was also referring to his Guru. And in the chain of Hierarchy Jesus was under Maitreya, the Universal Christ, who is under Gautama, who is under Sanat Kumara.

Jesus went to the East in search of Maitreya and to study under the lineage of the Buddhists. So when he said, ” I and my Father are one ,” he was saying, “I and my Guru are one. I and my sambhogakaya are one. I and my I AM Presence are one.” He was declaring that he was at the integrated personality in God.

So Jesus the Christ–the Christ was his title and the level of his attainment. You will never find in scripture Jesus saying, “I am the exclusive son of God. I am the only one.” But he did say he was the Son of God and he expects all of us to so affirm it, because as we affirm it we become it.

One of the most important legacies of Gautama as well as Jesus was their teaching that they had become Gurus and not gods to be worshiped. That’s why the final message of Gautama is “Seek nothing outside of yourself. Do not worship me. Go within and become as I am.” Neither one proclaimed themselves as exclusive sons of God but took the role of guides and exemplars to point the way to their disciples to realize the same Inner Buddha, the same Inner Christ that they did.

This point is made in the surun, Surangama Sutra when Gautama scolds his disciple Ananda for his self-conceit in not understanding the nature of his true mind. Ananda realizes that he has not followed the injunction of the Buddha to become the Teaching. The sutra says: “After hearing this, Ananda, in bitter tears, prostrated himself with his heads, knee, with his head, knees and elbows on the ground, knelt and brought his two palms together, saying: ‘After I left home to follow the Buddha, I merely relied on His transcendental power and always thought that I could dispense with practice since He would bestow samadhi upon me. I did not know that He could not be my substitute and so lose (sight of) my fundamental Mind. This is why, though I joined the Order, my mind was unable to enter the Tao.

“I was like a destitute son running away from his father. I only realize now that, in spite of much listeng, listening to the Dharma, if I do not practice it, I shall come to nothing as if I had not heard it, like a man who cannot satisfy his hunger by merely speaking of food. ‘World Honoured One, I am caught by the two hindrances because I do not know the real nature of the still and permanent Mind. May the Tathagata, Gautama Buddha, be compassionate enough fully to reveal to me that wondrous Bright Mind and so open my Tao eye.'” The Bright Mind is the Higher Consciousness of the Inner Buddha, the Holy Christ Self.

The Gnostic Teachings of Silvanus describes the role of Jesus: “The Tree of Life is Christ. He is Wisdom. For he is Wisdom; he is also the Word. He is the Life, the Power, and the Door. He is the Light, the Messenger, and the Good Shepherd. Entrust yourself to this one who became all for your sake. Knock on yourself as upon a door.” Knock on the door of your Inner Christ Self, the Holy Christ Self. And walk upon yourself as on a straight road. For if you walk on the road, it is impossible for you to go astray. And if you knock with this one (Wisdom), you knock on hidden treasures.”

When the Gnostics spoke of Christ they were talking about the Inner Christ of the man Jesus. They were not using the term synonymously with Jesus any more than you would take your name, Vincent or Joan, and confuse that with your Inner Buddha and Inner Christ. The outer self of Jesus is the evolving self and that is our outer self.

I would like to give you the opportunity to make attunement with your Inner Buddha and Inner Christ as we sing a meditation.

This is number 75 on page 20. You might enjoy standing. [laughter] I would like you to visualize the flame in your heart. Let us make this a very deep experience of going within and I will make an invocation.

INVOCATION :

Beloved Mighty I AM Presence, legions of Light, heavenly hosts, all Ascended Masters, beloved Lord Gautama Buddha, beloved Lord Jesus Christ, we call to you now to assist each one here, all Lightbearers on earth in this moment to attain that inner communion with the Inner Guru, the Inner Buddha, and the Inner Christ.

I call now for this oneness to descend upon us. I call for legions of angels to cut free the soul to rise to the heart and the secret chamber of the heart and to know the great love of this Holy Christ Self.

I accept it done this hour in full power, O God. In the name I AM THAT I AM, in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Divine Mother, Amen.

[song 29:]

Holy Christ Self above me

Thou balance of my soul

Let thy blessed radiance

Descend and make me Whole.

Expanding, expanding, expanding now.

Holy Christ Flame within me

Come, expand thy triune Light

Flood my being with the essence

Of the pink, blue, gold, and white.

Thy Love protects and holds me

Thy dazzling Light enfolds me.

I AM thy threefold radiance

I AM thy living Presence

Expanding, expanding, expanding now.

Please be seated.

I have stacks of verses from our own Gospels as well as from the Gnostic texts which repeat over and over again the potential of the individual to realize Christhood or Buddhahood.

Jesus tells the multitudes: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” And yet Christians today will tell you there is none perfect except Jesus.

Jesus tells his disciples: “Verily, velrily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto my Father.”

The brevity of our being together today does not allow me to read all of these to you but I can fit them in this evening. I hope you’ll all join us at the Roosevelt Hotel for an evening of continuing meditation, teaching on the twin flames, initiation by the Great Divine Director and his view of the age of Aquarius.

So I will go on now. And I decided this time I would have the definitive statement of everything we could find in all of these texts that would have to do with this Inner Self.

Paul wrote to the Ephesians: “I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be stranckened with the might, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man.” The inner man Paul knew as Christ–“that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith.”

Peter advises women not to let their adorning be “that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; but it, let it be the hidden man of the heart.”

The hidden man of the heart is in that secret chamber, the Inner Buddha, the Inner Christ.

It is all over. And there is none so blind as they who will not see. OK, I think I can get these final teachings in.

The teaching of East and West and Christ and Buddha that the passions are the cause of suffering, this is a parallel in Buddhist and Gnostic scripture, the ad, the admonition to free oneself from passions in order to attain true liberation, that is to gain the mastery over them, that you are nas, not mastered by them.

I think that the place where we come to realize that we are not the masters of our passions is in eating. [laughter] I think we know what we should be eating and what is good for us. But time and time again we pick up those things that are not good for us knowing well that they are not good for us, then feeling the effects, then suffering from them, and [laughter] then vowing the vow not to indulge again. And then when we feel fine we tell ourselves, “Well, they won’t hurt me,” and we eat them all over again. [laughter]

This repetitious cycle as we observe it in our lives draws us to the conclusion that we cannot forever be the slave of whatever our habits are. And I think he at, eating itself is the all-Western pastime of the passions of indulgence. And then we come to the habits of drugs and the misuses of the sacred fire in any of the chakras.

People think of misuses of the sacred fire in terms of not having their control over the sexual energies. But the misuse of that energy in every chakra is the squandering of light and the loss of that light. And we should think of this in a very balanced way because Gautama and Jesus intended us to be balanced.

This very teaching that we free oneselves from our enslavement, that we can actually say no when we want to say no, that we can say yes when it is right to say yes, and that we can be poised in the center and in our hearts. This is the true meaning of this path.

It’s the basis of Gautama’s teaching on the Four Noble Truths that life is dukkha , or ‘suffering’, that the cause of suffering is tanha –desire, that freedom or sensation from suffering is the attainment of Nirvana. That is the attainment of bliss and oneness with our Christ Self, who does not have inordinate desire. Not all desire is wrong but inordinate desire is wrong, excessive desire.

We can have a very strong desiring for God and to do his will and to love one another. This desiring propels us into higher octaves. I want to make clear that that is the teaching of the ascended Gautama Buddha today. If we are desirelessness in all things we have no will or drive to realize God. And so there is the path of ordinate desire and it follows the Eightfold Path. The way to liberation is that Eightfold Path.

The teachings of the Buddha recorded in the Dhammapada state: “No fire like passion, no sickness like hate, no grief like the ego’s, and no joy like peace. No disease like greed, no sorrow like desire.”

The Teachings of Silvanus from the Nag Hammadi Library says, from the heart of Jesus: “Abolish every childish time of life, acquire for yourself strength of mind and soul, and intensify the struggle against every folly of the passions of love and base wickedness, and love of praise, and fondness of contention, and tiresome jealousy and wrath, and anger and the desire of avarice.” All of these are misuses of the seven chakras. They are equally as bad as the misuse of the sacred fire and we should remember that.

The very condemnation of others and their misuse of the sacred fire is just as wicked as what we consider to be wrong acts to be. Condemnation is a vicious state of mind that borders on black magic and witchcraft because it curses those that we are condemning with our energy and our momentum.

“Guard your camp and weapons and spears. Arm yourself and all the soldiers which are the words, and the commanders which are the counsels, and your mind as a guiding principle. My son, throw every robber out of your gates. Guard all your gates with torches which are the words, and you will acquire all these things for a quiet life. But he who will not guard these things will become like a city which is desolate since it has been captured, and all kinds of wild beasts have trampled upon it.

“For thoughts which are not good are evil wild beasts. And your city, your temple, will be filled with robbers.” That means discarnate entities that accompany your bad habits such as discarnate entities that accompany the nicotine habit or alcohol or excessive sugar or drugs. There’re always invisible demons and discarnates that are around you and they occupy your temple. And so robbers are in your house. And so you do not acquire peace because they are always not satisfied, always wanting more of that substance that you are addicted to–and all kinds of savage wild beasts.

“The Wicked One, who is a tyrant, is lord over these. While directing this, he (the Wicked One) is beneath the great mire. The whole city which is your soul will perish. Remove all these, O wretched soul. Bring in your guide and your teacher. The mind is the guide, but reason is the teacher. They will bring you out of destruction and dangers.”

All of this is your Higher Consciousness. If you determine to hold fast and hold on against descending another round and another round into these substances or into these habits, and if you use the decrees that are in this booklet–we have made new cassettes with updated and richer versions of the songs and decrees. Every single decree from beginning to end, every single song is here. You can take home the booklet. You can take home the cassettes and you are on your way to affirming that Light within you.

If you clean your house the Christ will enter there and your soul will become the bride of that Christ. And that Christ your Lord, that Buddha your Lord, will be wed to your soul. And when you are wed in what is called the alchemical marriage you will know that inseparability where you no longer will descend into this.

This Buddhist Jataka tale illustrates Gautama’s teaching that the conquest over the self is the highest conquest. When you conquer the lesser self the Inner Buddha is you. Jatakas are popular stories relating the previous lives of the Buddha in order to illustrate the law of karma. Gautama appears in many forms–from a king or a recluse to a stag or a hare– in order to demonstrate a virtue that is the moral of the story.

I would like to conclude, then, our teaching prior to the dictation with one of these stories. [Messenger reads from The Jataka , pp. 169-170.]

Once on a time when Brahmadatta was reigning in Benares, the Bodhisatta Gautama came to life again as a gardener, and grew up. ‘Spade Sage’ was his name. [laughter] With his spade he cleared a patch of ground, and grew pot-herbs, pumpkins, gourds, cucumbers, and other vegetables, by the sale of which he made a sorry living. For, save only that one spade, he had nothing in the world! Resolving one day to

forsake the world for the religious life, he hid his spade away, and became a recluse. But thoughts of that spade rose in his heart and the passion of greed overcame him, so that for the sake of his blunt spade he reverted to the world. Again and again this happened; six times did he hide the spade and become a recluse,–only to renounce his vows again. But the seventh time he bethought him how that blunt spade had caused him again and again to backslide; and he made up his mind to throw it into a great river before he became a recluse again. So he carried the spade to the river-side, and, fearing lest if he saw where it fell, he should come back and fish it out again, [laughter] he whirled the spade thrice round his head by the handle and flung it with the strength of an elephant right into mid-stream, shutting his eyes tight as he did so.

Then loud rang his shout of exultation, a shout like a lion’s roar,–“I have conquered! I have conquered!”

Now just at that moment the King of Benares, on his way home from quelling disorder on the border, had been bathing in that very river, [laughter] and was riding along in all his splendour on the back of his elephant, when he heard the Bodhisatt v a’s shout of triumph. “Here is a man,” said the king, “who is proclaiming that he has conquered. I wonder whom he has conquered. [laughter] Go, bring him before me.”

So the Bodhisatt v a was brought before the king, who said to him, “My good man, I am a conqueror myself; I have just won a battle and on, am on my way to home victorious. Tell me whom you have conquered.” “Sire,” said the Bodhisatta, “a thousand, yea, a hundred thousand, such victories as yours are vain, if you have not the victory over the Lusts within yourself.  It is by conquering greed within myself that I have conquered my Lusts.” And as he spake , he gazed upon the great river, and by duly concentrating all his mind upon the idea of water, he won Insight.

Remember that is one of the five principles you gain on the path to nirvana.

Then by virtue of his newly-won transcendental powers, he rose in the air, and, seated there, instructed the King in the Truth in this stanza:–

The conquest that by further victories

Must be upheld, or own defeat at last,

Is Vain! True conquest lasts for evermore!

So if you gain a victory but you still have to gain it every day or fall into defeat again, then you are not the true conqueror. The real conquest witi, which is by the spirit of the Inner Buddha and in the Inner Christ lasts forevermore.

Even as he listened to the Truth, light shone in on the king’s darkness, and the Lusts of his heart were quenched; his heart was bent on renouncing the world; then and there the lust for royal dominion passed away from him. “And where will you go now?” said the king to the Bodhisatt v a. “To the Himalayas,

sire; there to live the anchorits, the anchorite’s life.” “Then I, too, will become an anchorite,” said the king; and he departed with the Bodhisattva. And with the king there departed also the whole army, all the brahmins and householders and all the common folk,–in a word, all the host that gathered there.

[15-sec. applause]

We will prepare for the dictation of Gautama Buddha now by singing a song that is here in this book. I had on my agenda today to give bija mantras to the Feminine deities and the Divine Mother. We will give these this evening. The song is on page 14, number 55, “Hail, Gautama Buddha.”

We will remove the lectern and if you have the statue of the Buddha you can bring it up now.

I wanted to tell you that you have been given this “Save the World with Violet Flame! by Saint Germain.” These are the words that go with the cassette by the same name. And these violet flame decrees we will enjoy giving this evening because the Great Divine Director is the Guru of Saint Germain and has a very important role to play in the age of Aquarius. So please hang onto these booklets and bring the booklet you were passed out today to the evening event and to tomorrow afternoon’s event.

These decree tapes are very powerful and we have probably about eight of them that are available to you now with words. You can make much progress on the Path all by yourself with your cassette player. You can put it on your headsets when you’re running or exercising or anything else you might be doing. Learn the decrees and recite them in great devotion to your I AM Presence and Holy Christ Self.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for the “Prophecy on the 1990s” as I bring to you new revelations and understandings of this period that we are entering.

We’re going to have; we’re going to have the meditation of this song that you will sing to a video of the Royal Teton Ranch and the Heart of the Inner Retreat, the place of the Western Shamballa. So as you look at the words please look up and meditate on that place of Light and at the conclusion of this song then we will have our dictation. OK. [song 464:]

DICTATION BEGINS

Beloved Gautama Buddha

The Message of the Inner Buddha
Love Is the Liberating Power of Aquarius
Wesak Address May 20, 1989

Hail, O Light!  I AM descended in my Dharmakaya into this place even as I hold counsel simultaneously with my bhikkhus and devotees not only in the heart of the Himalayas but in every place upon earth where the individual does adore the God within.

Thus I come, thus I minister, and I AM the Lord of the World.

Therefore, out of compassion in this hour I speak to my own and to all people who are citizens of planet earth. It is an hour, beloved, when love and greater love as compassion and Divine Love I would bestow to melt within you fear, doubt, ignorance, the clouding of the mind, and the nonawareness of the signs of the times.

Love, therefore, comes, for love is the wisdom of the heart. And in this peace, in the peace of my Presence, I enfold you that you might know, beloved, the eternity of Life that is in your own causal body, that you might rise to dwell within that body of Light and that you might understand [that] past, present, future collapse as time and space collapse as you enter into the Presence of God with you.

Blessed ones, in this Presence you are delivered from the burdens of hoping for a better life in the future or remembering nostalgically the past. In this Presence, beloved, you are. You are Love, you are Wisdom, you are endowed with Power. And you know who is your Real Self. You know who is the not-self. And you resolve to conquer that self and to be with me a mighty conqueror over sin, disease, and death.

No matter what does transpire in the earth, I, Gautama, am with you. I am in the very heart of hearts of those who love God and his will, who meditate upon his law day and night.

Whatever your religion or affiliation, it matters not. But it matters, beloved, if you enter into fanaticism, into condemnation of life and become bound by the letter [of the Law] without the spirit. Thus, love is the liberating power of Aquarius.

I call you Home. I call you home to my Shamballa of the East and of the West. I call you home to the light of the universal yin and yang. I call you home, beloved, to inner balance; for you shall not find it in the outer world or the outer self. You are weary of both. Therefore come unto me, all ye who labor and struggle with karma and I will give you the rest of the bliss of the hidden man of the heart that I AM THAT I AM.

From my heart is a filigree thread of Light [that goes out] to every individual upon this planet. And over that thread of contact flows life and a nourishing of the divine spark, establishing oneness through my heart with the entire hierarchy of the Great White Brotherhood. For as the mantle of Lord of the World is upon me, so through my heart do you contact Cosmic Beings, Elohim, the center of the Great Central Sun until ye are able to do so through the development of your own heart chakra and the balance of the threefold flame therein of Power, Wisdom, and Love.

I AM THAT I AM therefore the Inner Buddha within you, the crystal Buddha of the color rays. I ensconce myself now in each and every one of your chakras that therein there might be the spinning of the Tao.

And therefore let my Son Lao-tzu appear once again on earth. For, Lao-tzu, the earth has need of thee.

Wilt thou, O my son, go forth once again clothed in flesh and form, born of the Divine Mother, to carry once again the message of the eternal Tao?

Wilt thou, my son, come to the West where thou shalt be blest by the love of the bhikkhus gathered in the northern Rockies at the place of the Western Shamballa?

Wilt thou come?  For I have called thee to unveil again the Middle Way and [to] bring all the bhikkhus not yet ascended into the path of golden, shining illumination’s flame [in order that they may] enter Aquarius fully clothed with the violet flame cloak of self-transformation.

Wilt thou, O Lao-tzu?

Beloved, it is indeed a question that I ask whose answer must be pondered not by my son alone but by the Hierarchy of Light. For those changes coming upon the earth, and severe changes, must be considered not [only] by yourselves but by the Hierarchy of Light. And therefore many souls of Light who could accelerate their path by a final incarnation are waiting in the wings in the etheric octaves to descend into form lest in so descending they should not survive the turmoil and the turbulence of the final decade of the century, of the millennium, and of many thousands of years of cycles.

Twenty-five thousand eight hundred years I have awaited thy coming, beloved!  And you also have awaited your coming into this very embodiment when the doors should open [whereby you should] enter the gates of the inner temple by the twelve gates of the twelve signs of the hierarchy of the zodiac.

Thus, understand the twelve gates as twelve paths of initiation. You have lived in many dark ages enslaved not alone to self, but for the karma of self-enslavement you have endured enslavement by the tyrants of this world and mockery and persecutions and maimings and death.

So that which many have experienced even in this century on this planet some of you have escaped, some of you have not. For you were there in the Holocaust. You were there in prior wars. You have been there East and West. Aye, the sword of the fallen ones has fallen upon you in your vulnerability, and that vulnerability being the failure to heed the law of God and the Inner Voice in past incarnations.

Many among you, almost all who are here this day, and many Lightbearers of the world did plead before the Four and Twenty Elders and the Lords of Karma to enter this life to walk the straight and narrow path of the Buddhic victory, the Christic light. Yet, beloved, those who should be your teachers have not upheld the true calling within to present the Truth no matter what the cost. And thus indoctrinated once again as children, you have set forth on your quest as I did as Siddhartha to discover the answers to life and to the profound meaning and cause of human suffering that so outrages the sensitive soul.

You who feel and know world pain as well as the bliss of nirvana, you who are sensitive to elemental life and to all who suffer as well as to all who triumph, you, then, do have the makings of Buddhahood. I come to say this Wesak 1989, the hour is long past. Do not postpone the day, for the hour is come and now is when thy Teachers are close at hand. And you shall know your Teachers as you are known of them.

Receive, then, the Ascended Masters. Receive their teachings, beloved. For it is a moment when, as none other in these 25,800 years, you can accelerate and enter by the fiery coil the innermost presence of the Inner Buddha and thy Holy Christ Self.

As the cycles are opened and the portals to the city, let all take the science of the spoken Word; for it does necessitate a giant leap, when the hour is so short, to come under the wings of the holy angels and the I AM Presence. [And the science of the spoken Word is the means to that leap.]

O blessed and most holy God, God Flame within, as Above, so below, let thy oneness be declared. O in thy infinite mercy, thou bodhisattva Kuan Yin, come with thy mantle of Mother Flame mercy and violet fire!  Place it upon each one of these and all of this world who are the devotees of Love.

A filigree mantle of Light as light as a feather does fall upon you–mercy’s mantle, an insulation you may wear with any other mantle, an insulation from the burdens and the harshness of life on this planet.

Many upon earth in this hour are hopeless. Thus our attention goes to those who would raise up freedom in China–China long ago betrayed by the powers that be in this very nation, betrayed, then, to World Communism when freedom was her destiny. Blessed hearts, the powers that be in China today do not intend to allow this youth to triumph and to win. Thus I place my comfort flame upon them in memory of the Ancient of Days and the endowment of that civilization with the flame of illumination long, long ago.

May your mantras and decrees be for the binding of tyrants everywhere that the Buddha might emerge. These tyrants, beloved, are not of the seed of the Sons of God but they are fallen angels and betrayers of the Inner Buddha and the Inner Christ. And they strike and strike again and again wherever souls unite to declare the fundamental principle of the path of the Buddha and the Christ, which is freedom. And [these souls of Light united], they themselves do ring the bell of the Aquarian age and they say, “Thus far and no farther!”  Yet, though the power of Hierarchy be with them, the power of this world is not in their hands.

Will you not, then, invoke the Archangels and all hosts of Karttikeya, Sanat Kumara, for the deliverance of youth and those of all ages in every nation to overcome tyranny and bigotry and enslavement in every form?  Unless freedom triumph, beloved, the Aquarian age cannot be and shall not be an age of the God of Gold, a golden age of enlightenment.

Freedom is always hard won, as is true illumination. Therefore the Buddhas and the bodhisattvas have raised up the kindling fire of the crown; and we bring our crown chakras as we walk, almost physical, through the earth this day, those Buddhas in heaven and all of their disciples. And the fire of our crown chakras is as the fire of a candle and we make ourselves fiery candles walking, walking through the earth.

I bid you, then, take the tape of decrees on the Second Ray of illumination that we have called for and that is now manifest and [I also bid you,] as a messenger of the Eightfold Path and of the Inner Buddha and of the Holy Christ Self, vow to carry that flame of wisdom, of illumination (which is [of] wise dominion and of illumined action). Messengers are ye all of the Middle Way, tethering not to the right or to the left of the world’s various isms but knowing that Truth is above them all.

I AM in thy heart, beloved. Fear not. Fear not, for I AM with thee. I AM thy Father, thy Brother, thy Son. I AM thy Husband. I AM the Lover of thy soul. I AM so very close to my own. Do not extend distance between your self and mine but speak to me each day as a friend you entertain and who entertains you along the way. For thus the Lord of the World is not elevated above his subjects but is the servant of all.

I keep the Flame of Shamballa until you have the mastery to go there out of the body, to commune in higher octaves, to arrive at the retreats of the Ascended Masters. I keep for you the threefold flame of the heart until it does expand.

Yet those of you who follow the Ascended Masters and those of you who have just learned of their presence so near, I say, do not be fooled by the very process of the reasoning mind that does say, “I am a chela of the Ascended Masters. I am secure.”  Thus you will make the mistake of an ancient disciple and not attain to the inner mind.

It is true, beloved. Not an Ascended Master or the Inner Buddha or the Holy Christ Self or the I AM Presence can attain this victory for you!  It is not possible. This is the message of the hour, to work out your own nirvana, your own salvation, with that fear and trembling before the law of God, before the signs of the times, before your karma–understanding that it will take all of your life and your loving, all of your determination and your willing to affirm, in the science of the spoken Word, mantras of the East and the dynamic decrees that Saint Germain has introduced to the West. All of the Hierarchy of Light does sponsor this and it is the swift and sudden descent of your I AM Presence!  It is the shortest distance between two points.

Thus, with all of thy disciplines and all of thy getting of the knowledge of the Path, do not exclude the daily recitation of the mantra and the giving of the devotion. [This ritual] does weave the light by the power of your spoken Word and your chakras and thereby [you do] establish strong cords of light from your chakras which bind you to the infinite and clear the pathway through the astral debris to the higher octaves whence you descended with your twin flame!

Be not afraid to give your life to the Victory, for thereby you shall have everlasting Life. Do not fear to face the future or what is coming upon the earth, but take heed to be in preparedness, as we have told you. For when you are in the physical body you are subject to physical conditions. Therefore, if you go out in subzero weather, you may take cold or pneumonia unless you are one of the few yogis in the high Himalayas who may sit [naked] in the ice and snow untouched.

Remember, you are subject to the forces of this world, to the chemistry, to the poisons, to the diseases, to all of the threatening woes and that which is delivered as karma of the earth through the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Understand this, beloved, and do not confuse by your metaphysics the absolute God-Reality of your Higher Self with the mutable lower self as so many in the past have done in their [self-]idolatry. And therefore they have not met the challenges of the times because they have refused to bend the knee to acknowledge the laws that govern the time-and-space manifestation, the Nirmanakaya.

To be master over time and space means that you must obey the laws governing the health and survivability of the body and the mind and the psyche within this octave. To be an instrument and a crystal chalice for the higher Light you must take care of this lesser vehicle.

The challenges [being] faced by this planet, the challenges that you will face, beloved, require a steeling of the mind and [of] one’s inner resources, then, a preparation for the return of that karma [which is] becoming more and more physical.

You have thought that that karma descends perhaps from a century or two thousand years. But I, Gautama, tell you that it descends from 25,800 years of continuous incarnations by yourself. That which has not been balanced by you in that period is the [karmic] baggage you bear for these cyclings of the earth in the precession of the equinoxes.

Thus you see, if the righteous be scarcely saved, where shall the sinner and the ungodly appear? It is the noble Son Saint Germain who has given his causal body and his life that you might have in your hands this day the gift of the violet flame. By calling forth that violet flame daily, you, then, may transmute that karma residual that has been the accumulation of this cycle of cosmic history of your soul’s evolution.

The more karma you balance and do so quickly by this dynamic decreeing to the violet flame, the more you will help the planet and the more you will decrease your vulnerability to that returning personal and planetary karma which shall accelerate in the twelve years hence from this hour, from Easter past, and from the auspicious date of April 23, 1989, as April 23, 1969, was the commencement of the return of mankind’s karma. These cycles, beloved, do intensify and it is because the Light does intensify.

If you, therefore, by spiritual exercise, by the use of the spoken Word and the Work of the Lord, will increase the Light in your [body] temple and literally enter the ruby fire for the exorcism of those invaders of your temple who are not of the Light, you will find that the Light within you will hold the balance for many upon earth who may be swept away by the tide of personal and planetary karma. This is the life of the bodhisattva–to bear the burden of the many as well as [of] oneself, to transmute the lesser self while bearing the cross, the cross of the meeting of the way of the Tao in the very heart of life.

I counsel you, then, as you shall see me now and as you shall see me when you draw your last breath in this life, that you spend all the remaining hours allotted to you, aside from the responsibilities of livelihood and family, in the giving and offering of praise to God and [in] the invocation of his Light that you might be a Light to the nations.

That you might learn the lesson of overcoming as taught in the story of the “Spade Sage”–that when you do conquer self [and] the desire and greed [for] an unnecessary livelihood in place of the Path, that conquering of self is the internalization of the Word, the eternal Logos that I AM THAT I AM[–is my prayer. This internalization of the Word is] the internalization of the Buddha whereby you are known as the Buddha, [it is] the internalization of the Christ whereby you are known as the Christ.

And this victory over self is the fusion of the permeable self, the soul, with the permanent Self who is the Lord of Life. And in that oneness, beloved, there does come upon you the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. And thereafter the one and the thousands will know that because you have conquered self they also may conquer self and enter in [to the Holy of Holies of their own God Presence].

Therefore, when the pull of the flesh and of this world and the lower desire body would take you apart from the Middle Way, I say remember [the] many lifetimes you have spent in a state of nonresistance to the lower self. Let it be a turnaround in this hour of Wesak, for my causal body is upon you and with you to strengthen you! It is an hour when you can appropriate my mantle and move on.

And therefore, inasmuch as you have ample experience of allowing the pulls of this world to take you from your First Love–your very First Love, who is your I AM Presence and your beloved twin flame–why not experiment and see where the determination to go up, up, up in the desire of thy spirit to soar sunward and enter the I AM THAT I AM [will take you]?  Let each day be that decision reinforced until the momentum is the momentum of Hercules, of Amazonia, of Elohim, of Cosmic Beings!

May you hitch your wagon to the star of that I AM Presence and move on. For, beloved, every affirmation of the “I AM THAT I AM the Buddha in the way, I AM THAT I AM the Christ in the way” is the building of momentum. And you find that the momentum becomes the Holy Spirit in your sails and in your wings, and you are propelled by your prior good works and by that momentum of your very causal body.

This is the easy way, but the way of the toilers is the hard way of Death and Hell and self-annihilation. It is far more difficult, beloved, to choose the path of annihilation than it is to choose the path of Light. Yet in this world it has become reversed. I say, it is not so.

Therefore on this day of Wesak I come. It is with a message of encouragement to all who mourn, and they mourn because of their acceptance of their incomplete awareness of self. They mourn because they are in a state of ignorance.

Let there be Light!  Let the Light of the Buddha now expand from within your heart until you feel a physical heat melting the ignorance, the avarice, the unmerciful heart, and all those things that block the flow of Divine Love from you!  In the fullness of this meditation I bestow upon you a halo of Light, each one. My angels guard you [together] with the angels of the Seven Archangels.

There is a fire in the mountain of God. May you meditate upon that fire, become it, enter the mountain, and transcend all stages of nonexistence until you become in God the self-existent one.

Think upon this. Your I AM Presence is the self-existent one, the full God Presence. When one day in the highest octaves you shall have realized the allness of God as Above, so below, you shall know the meaning also from Christhood to Buddhahood to Godhood. This is your destiny, beloved. Let none, no thing, no force, no subtle deception, no creature great or small take from you that First Love, your daily devotions, and all that you must accomplish to become as we are.

We are your elder brothers and sisters on the Path. To you who have come from near and far, I, Gautama, shall be present with you to answer your unanswered questions, to tell you that which cannot be spoken in a public place, to lead you and to guide you. Therefore fast and pray that you might hear my word and know that which is your assignment that will bring about the hour of your Victory.

Until that hour, then, you are overshadowed by the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood. It is yours to appropriate our Power, Wisdom, and Love, to call it forth, to apply it, to direct it for the healing of society and self.

All the world is thy patient, beloved, for there is none saved unless the whole is saved. O my bhikkhus, save thyself that thou mayest save a billion souls and more!  For the Light is equal to it!  The Light shall perform it!  The Light shall do it!  The Light is thy God-Reality.

Who is Padma Sambhava?

Padma Sambhava is revered throughout the Himalayan countries as the “Precious Guru.” He is the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, and his followers venerate him as the “second Buddha.”

Padma Sambhava’s life

Padma Sambhava’s name means “Lotus-Born One.” Although much of his life and work is obscured in legend, he is said to have been the foremost scholar at the famous monastic university in Nalanda, India, in the eighth century A.D. He was renowned for his mystical powers and mastery of the occult sciences—especially for his knowledge and application of dharani (“mystical sentences”). He also had a great command of worldly knowledge, from languages and fine arts to the earth sciences and architecture.

In about 750 A.D., the Tibetan king Trisong Detsen invited Padma Sambhava to come to Tibet. There he helped establish Buddhism by overcoming the forces of the entrenched Bon religion. He exorcised the demons that were preventing the building of the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet, the great monastery of Samye, located outside of Lhasa. Padma Sambhava then oversaw the completion of this monumental monastery with its elaborate complex of temples designed in the form of a mandala. At Samye he also founded the first community of Tibetan Buddhist monks.

Padma Sambhava brought an age of great enlightenment to Tibet. Under his direction, an assembly of scholars translated Buddhist scriptures and texts into the Tibetan language, enabling Buddhism to spread throughout the country. In addition, he traveled throughout Tibet, converting many to the path of the Buddha and revealing the mantra teachings of the Vajrayana. Vajrayana is the Diamond Vehicle, or Path, a school of Buddhism prevalent in Tibet. One of its central practices is the empowerment of a disciple by his guru through certain practices and rituals, including reciting mantras.

Before Padma Sambhava left Tibet, he instructed the king and people for twenty-one days in the outer and inner teachings. He also taught them principles of law, farming and enlightened government, and he exhorted them to pursue the path of Buddhahood.

Legend says that, with this accomplished, he mounted a magnificent winged horse, and surrounded by rainbow light, rose upward into the heavens. According to tradition, he now resides in his paradise, his Pure Land, on the Copper-Colored Mountain.

The tertöns

► Main article: Tertön

While he was living, Padma Sambhava initiated an inner circle of twenty-five disciples who became adepts and transmitters of the teachings. Because the Tibetan people were not yet ready to receive the essence of Padma Sambhava’s highest teachings, the master and his disciples preserved them in an abbreviated, codified form that could be deciphered only by those who had been properly prepared. These scriptures are called termas, meaning literally “treasures.” Padma Sambhava and his disciples concealed the termas where they would be safe until it was time for them to be revealed. He predicted that his twenty-five disciples would reembody as tertöns (literally “revealers of treasure”) to discover and interpret these esoteric teachings.

According to other traditions, the most prominent tertöns are incarnations of Padma Sambhava himself. Tibetan Buddhists believe that starting in the eleventh century and continuing, tertöns began to recover and expound upon these termas. Some of the termas that were discovered contain prophecies made by Padma Sambhava concerning the future of Tibet—prophecies we have seen come to pass in our own lifetime. These include prophecies of the Chinese Communist invasion of Tibet; the destruction of monasteries; the desecration of sacred scriptures, statues and paintings; the degradation of monks; the slaying of the Tibetan people and the raping of nuns.

The mantle of guru

Padma Sambhava bestowed upon the messenger Elizabeth Clare Prophet the mantle of guru and gave her the name “Guru Ma.” “Guru Ma” means the teacher who is a devotee of the Divine Mother. Wearing the mantle of guru, the messenger is the servant of the light of God within you. The guru helps you find your way back home to God.

There is no greater love than the love that is shared between a guru and his chela. They give their life to each other in a sacred bond. For thousands of years, the great spiritual teachers of mankind have passed their mantle and their teaching to deserving disciples. Around each successive teacher would gather students who were dedicated to studying that teaching and becoming the living example of that teaching.

With the transfer of the mantle from master to disciple comes the transfer of responsibility. The disciple pledges to carry on the mission of his master. In order for the work of the Great White Brotherhood to continue on earth, someone in embodiment must wear the mantle of guru. Today there are very few true gurus in embodiment who are sponsored by the Great White Brotherhood. Padma Sambhava is a part of a special lineage of gurus of the Great White Brotherhood called the hierarchy of the ruby ray. The chain of hierarchy in this lineage is from Sanat Kumara (the Ancient of Days) to Gautama BuddhaLord MaitreyaJesus Christ and Padma Sambhava.

His mantra

► Main article: Golden Mantra

For centuries, devotees of Padma Sambhava have received blessings by invoking his mantra, Om Ah Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum. It means: “Padma Sambhava, who arose from a lotus, please grant me the ordinary and supreme accomplishments, HUM!” (A “Vajra Guru” is a being who has fully mastered the path of Vajrayana.)

Padma Sambhava instructed his disciple Yeshe Tsogyal that his mantra should be used to avert the evils of a coming period of great darkness. His devotees have invoked this mantra to create peace and harmony and to antidote the confusion and turmoil of this Dark Age. It is a mantra for the era in which we live, a time of the planetary return of karma.

Lord Maitreya has urged us to let Padma Sambhava’s mantra ring in our soul and our heart:

Give the mantra of Padma Sambhava thirty-three times and celebrate your soul’s ascent each day to the secret chamber of your heart, to the altar of being. Life is empty when you do not do this. When you do not do it, you do not even know just how empty your life is. And you do not know how full it can be when and if you enter into the practice of keeping your appointment with Maitreya, with Gautama Buddha, with the bodhisattvas. Give it thirty-three times, beloved ones.

His teachings today

The ascended master Padma Sambhava has told us that he was sent by Gautama Buddha to be the incarnation of the Buddha so that all beings might have hope of becoming that Buddha. He said that following in his footsteps, we could be “the open door to souls becoming the Buddha within.” He also warned that those who choose to walk the path of the Buddha will face challenges.

He gave this key to retaining the Buddhic light:

Keep on loving in the face of the most intense anger, hatred, pride, passion, ambition, fear, death and darkness projected against the alignment of your being with the Buddhas of the light…. Remember not to identify with the counterfeit stream of the darkened ones. Their stream is this anger and all of these perversions that I have named…. These are the energies that you will tame in my name. These are the energies that will pass through your chakras without resistance from yourself. And in passing through, they will become, by the alchemy of transmutation, the great River of Life that you can claim as your own.
