Lesson Two from the Holy Spirit:
The Prerequisites to a Master-Disciple
Relationship with the Holy Spirit
June 28, 1994
LECTURE TRANSCRIPT:
INVOCATION:
Now, O light of the Great Central Sun, focus thy beam upon this Heart of the Inner Retreat, on the heart of each one whose heart is a chalice for the magnificence of God. Let God be magnified this day in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the Father, Mother and the Son. Let God be magnified. Let our hearts expand. Let there be consumed now all that is not that light of God made pure.
O Lord, we come. We come for the purging. We come for the enlightenment. We call for unity with thy Spirit. Let the mighty two-edged sword now pronounce the separation of the Real from the Unreal. We summon the courage of our souls and our Holy Christ Selves to cast into the sacred fire the very cause and core of all that is unreal.
Let us go forward in Divine Reality, O God, no matter what the price. Let us go forward. We push back ages-old barriers of ignorance, every type of ignorance, and we call forth the Five Dhyani Buddhas to give us the five wi, wisdoms as antidotes to the five poisons.
Almighty God, we walk surefooted in the footprints of Jesus Christ, Gautama Buddha, Moses and all of the great leaders you have sent to us.
Mighty I AM Presence, descend. Holy Christ Self, descend into this temple.
Let the mighty action of the holy ones of God be made known. Let the power and the wisdom and the love of all servants of God worlds without end be connected with us through the great antahkarana, the mighty antahkarana that holds all Lightbearers together worlds without end across the cosmos.
We are one, O God. Let that Universal Mind press in the earth, press deeper in the earth, press deeper into our psyches until that is consumed and only the fires of the Holy Ghost are allowed in this temple.
O let the sifting come, O God. For we are gathered. We are here. We are determined to put off the snakeskin of the old self and to put on the seamless garment of the new.
Therefore come, O Holy Spirit, enlighten us. Come, O Holy Spirit, teach us. We thank thee. We accept it done this hour in full power in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and the Divine Mother, Amen.
LECTURE:
Our second lecture on the Holy Spirit is “The Prerequisites to a Master-Disciple Relationship with the Holy Spirit,” with the person of the Maha Chohan. We would all like to be in that relationship. What must we do to qualify? So in this Lesson 2 I will explore these prerequisites to the Master-disciple relationship with the Holy Spirit.
As the age of Aquarius dawns, we who seek that relationship have a three-part challenge. We must fulfill not only the laws of God for the age of Aquarius but the laws God gave for the ages of Aries and Pisces. The age of Aries was the age of the Father. God set forth his law through the patriarchs and prophets. He delivered the Ten Commandments to Moses.
The age of Pisces was the age of the Son. Jesus built on the law of Aries and added to it grace and mercy, the grace and mercy of the Son of God.
The age of Aquarius is the age of the Holy Spirit and the Divine Mother. Many seekers who are on fire for the age of Aquarius believe that they can skip the Ten Commandments and the laws that Jesus gave because somehow they have transcended those and all they need is the New Age teaching. Thus they deny the Holy Spirit in their lives and attract to themselves discarnate entities, which are low spirits of the astral plane.
By disobeying the commandments of God, they forfeit an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. In their exploration of the non-material world, they dwell in a twilight zone of channeling and mysticism without the Holy Spirit as Mediator.
It is well to note that in our pursuit of the alchemy of Aquarius, more is expected of us because more is given to us. Let us remember that. Let us write those words on our hearts. More is expected of us because more is given to us. As Jesus said, “Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required. And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”[i] More is expected of all of us because we know more. We know the Teachings of the Ascended Masters for the age of Aquarius.
On Christmas 1989, Jesus called us who have the Teachings of the Ascended Masters for the Aquarian age. He asked us to take back upon ourselves the karma that he has borne for us for the last 2,000 years. Jesus Christ was and is the avatar of the Piscean age. He did bear the sin of the world and he has borne our burdens. He has done this for many reasons. But in each age there is an avatar who bears the burdens of world karma. And he has many who assist him, disciples, in bearing some portion of that karma.
And so we were counted among those for whom Jesus bore karma. But he said to us, he said that we must understand that since we have the violet flame, we have the ability to call to the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood and the Great Central Sun, we have the knowledge of balancing our own karma, that we should now bear that burden. We should take on that burden so that he can work with others whose theology, whose traditions in the ages of Aries and Pisces do not allow them doctrinally to accept the Teachings of the Ascended Masters that we have accepted.
Furthermore, Jesus desires us to become adepts, not to simply receive gifts from him but to gain self-mastery ourselves so that we will ascend not simply because we have been good people but because we have mastered the alchemy of our beings. We have the violet flame. We know how to call upon the numberless numbers of saints robed in white in heaven. The Ascended Masters have given us teachings we can apply to gain our adeptship.
I want to tell you something that I thought was very sweet when I was talking to an old friend that I hadn’t spoken with for a long time. And I reassured her that I had no desire to convert her to my religion. She has her own religion and her husband is a Methodist minister. But I wanted to tell her about some things about the teachings. And I was speaking to her about the saints robed in white surrounding the throne of the Lamb of God and the numberless numbers. And she said to me, “Well, I can accept that there are Ascended Masters and saints robed in white. But it’s when you begin to name them that I get turned off.” [laughter] A little bit too close if they have names.
So we all have an inner name and we are one with that great Mystical Body of God. And we understand that the age of Pisces has brought with it
a doctrine that is really not the full doctrine of Jesus Christ. And we need to pray for those who have so much light that they might understand that there is a path, that they can walk in the footsteps of Jesus and they can do greater works than he did because he goes unto the Father.
So this admonishment of Jesus is pivotal to the entire 2,150-year age of Pisces, bearing our own burden. So we need to come up higher and bear our own burden so Jesus can be free to help souls who do not have the recourse to these teachings for one reason or another. Some have even been indoctrinated that it is blasphemy to pray to the Ascended Masters. And thus on this point of their indoctrination they are still in the Piscean dispensation. They cannot move forward to the great gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit and the Divine Mother because they cannot deny or denounce what they have been taught since they are little children.
So in the age of Aquarius we who have seen the truth of the Teachings of the Ascended Masters are abundantly blessed by them and by their solicitous attention to the needs of our souls. Now and then I see that instead of lovingly expressing their gratitude, have taken for granted the blessings of the Ascended Masters. Almost as spoiled children, they desire all the benefits of a Guru/chela relationship but none of the responsibility.
Now, at that point when you see yourself contacting the dweller-on-the-threshold of your own being and the anger of your own being, you can actually begin to start to get angry that you are not being fed, spoon-fed by the Masters but that you are expected to become a Master yourself. Now, I’ve seen this happen to not a few people. So you need to examine your heart and your soul to be certain that you don’t have a subtle resentment that Saint Germain isn’t doing more for you, that El Morya isn’t interceding for you, that, that Jesus is not taking away your sins but that you have to work at it and do it yourself because you have chosen, you have chosen the Aquarian age level of development.
So you might say that those of us who believe in the Teachings of the Ascended Masters are the avant-garde, the first troops who are penetrating all that that Aquarian age can stand for. And so those who are not willing to take upon their own shoulders the responsibility for their own actions, then if they are chastised for an infraction of the Law or asked to make some small sacrifice, they chafe against the Law and at some level of their being, conscious or unconscious, they become angry. And then through their anger, they vex the Holy Spirit or they may even quench the Spirit within themselves. They may put out the flame of the Holy Spirit in their own temples because “God,” in their words, “you are not doing enough for me.”
What I would like to do, then, this afternoon is to review the Ten Commandments with you as they were given in the age of Aquarius, excuse me, as they were given in the age of Aries, to build on those commandments and see what they must mean for us today. Then I will follow with Jesus’ commandments for the age of Pisces, which is the Sermon on the Mount that we find recorded in Matthew. What we need to realize, then, is that we must solidly build upon the commandments of the age of Aries and Pisces. We can overlook nothing. We must embody those commandments and fulfill them.
Now, there’s a very interesting thing about those commandments. Moses goes to Mount Horeb. God tells him to carve these ta, these commandments in stone. He’s up there for many days. And when he comes down, he finds that Aaron has allowed them to build a golden calf and they are dancing around the calf in an idolatrous fashion.
Moses becomes very angry. And one text that I have read some years ago speculates that the original commandments of God were intri, intricate and much more lengthy and much more specific. But because of the hardness of heart of the people and their idolatrous generation, God now gives Moses only ten commandments that the people must obey.
When you look at those Ten Commandments, there’s scarcely a person on earth today who at one time or another in this life or a previous life has actually disobeyed those commandments. If we cannot fulfill these commandments, then how shall we go forward and obey Jesus’ commandments, which are lengthy and much more detailed and based on the very relationship of the soul to God?
So let us look at the state of the world today and see how we as individuals, for it is our soul that we wou, would search, and then people in general who simply discard these commandments and neglect them entirely as if it didn’t matter at all.
Now, one thing the Maha Chohan told me to tell you today is that when you are immersed in a sea of density, which is the outcropping of this ages-old karma that you want to balance quickly, it is important to read the Bible and to know the Bible because it will steady you. It will be the white fire that keeps you through that period of density that you are passing through and much soul testing.
So take up your Bibles. We have ordered Bibles for this conference, a commemorative edition for this year, for 1994 in the Heart. And we take the King James Version of the Bible, the red-letter edition. And I think that you will find a deep solace in reading these Bibles, especially the prophets, the Psalms and the New Testament.
So God gave to us through Moses the commandments in the order of their importance. The first three commandments, interestingly, honor God and tell us what our relationship is to him and to his name. The next seven deal with human relationships.
The first commandment is “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” It sounds so simple but it isn’t. As a matter of fact, we and the children of Israel and most people on this planet are an idolatrous generation! We have idols. We make idols of ourselves and others. So I say to you, cast down your idols and worship the living God, the Mighty I AM Presence. “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord,” and him only shalt thou serve!
We think we have no idols, but when our idols fall, we often fall with them. We’re worshipers of ourselves and of other people. We worship our human ego. We worship every aspect of ourselves and others. We must stop this. Each time we do it, we are breaking the very first commandment and putting somebody before God, in other words, ourselves, “Me first, then you, God.”
So don’t worship the flesh, the personality, but focus on the God who dwells within your temple, the God who dwells within you. Worship that one God who has apportioned himself, crumb by crumb, fire for fire in the hearts of his sons and daughters. And thereby unlock the God potential of all whom you meet. Serve God only, and thou and thy seed shall prosper. That is the first commandment. Watch for the signs of idolatry in yourself, thinking how wondrous other human beings are. Remove it. Give praise to God that he dwells within that person but don’t worship the shell.
Two, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” Do not trifle with the name of God. Be reverent. Give Holiness unto the Lord. The Lord instructed Moses to make a plate of gold and engrave upon it: Holiness unto the Lord. He was to secure this plate to the mi, to the miter of Aaron, the high priest, with a blue lace. A miter is a tall cone-shaped headdress like the one the pope wears. The Lord said that Aaron should always wear this plate on his forehead. This engraving was a reminder to the children of Israel to pay homage to the Lord by ascribing to God his holiness and by embodying his holiness.
Do not use God’s name in anger or as a swear word. There are many take, takings off or takeoffs on the name of God and the name of Jesus in other less, less dangerous wordings. You need to watch out for them. There are names that are derivatives of Jesus that are used as swear words, just like when somebody says, “Jeez,” or “Gee whiz.” You’re saying the first two letters of the name of Jesus. And it goes on and on until people don’t even realize that what they are saying is some perversion of the name of God that they think is acceptable.
I would like to explain to you the reason for this commandment. This is what Moses gave me for this lecture. The name of God I AM THAT I AM is not merely a name. It is not just a name. But the words themselves are God in manifestation. When you say God’s name, you are affirming God where you are.
Why did God give us access to his name? Because he wanted to give us a form of empowerment. I AM THAT I AM is not the total name of God but it’s the essence of the name that he gives to us to contact a certain portion of himself. God does not make mere mortals to have access of, of, to the totality of his power. He knows better than to do that. But he gives us one portion of himself through this name.
Thus to sin against the name of God is to sin against God himself. When we take his name in vain, we make serious karma. And if we continue it, God takes from us the power of his name, and thereafter, having been stripped of the power of his name, we lose the blessing of his name.
So dangerous was the act of taking God’s name in vain considered to be that the Jews did not pronounce the name of God “Yahweh” aloud. Instead they pronounced it as “Adonai,” meaning Lord. This was to prevent the people from defiling not only the name and person of God but their own Mighty I AM Presence, that great portion of God that is within them and above them.
So it is very important to see that the power of the spoken word of the throat chakra is never used to take the name of God in vain or to invoke demons or foul spirits. People will swear in the name of God but they will do so in anger. And they do it to pull his energy to work not works of God or works of good but whatever they want to happen in their lives.
So you hear people swearing a blue streak constantly all over this nation, all over the world. And then this swearing becomes foul. It becomes an unconscionable use of words that are simply not acceptable.
If you have a momentum on swearing, you also have a momentum of demons within you who continually prod you to swear. Don’t swear when you, when you hit your finger instead of the nail that you’re hammering. Praise God for the opportunity to not be dense but curb [laughter] yourself. This is the power of the Word of God that framed the universes, that created the whole of creation. Don’t use it lightly. You will not get the Holy Spirit if you do not conquer this.
The third commandment, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” In the Judeo-Christian tradition‑-the Aries-Pisces tradition‑-Jews and Christians honor God by honoring the seventh day of the week with prayers, fastings and focus on the holy scriptures. On the Sabbath day we can take the words Aaron wore on his miter and make them an affirmation: Holiness unto the Lord!
In the Aquarian age we honor the Sabbath with us, with a sustained daily momentum of prayer, dynamic decrees in the science of the spoken Word, contemplation of the mysteries of God and his blessings, and other God-centered activities. Our services in our Church Friday through Sunday are our formal offering of gratitude to the Lord for his day.
Now, there are 168 hours in a week. And if we were to consider a tithe of one tenth of that time in giving of prayers, meditations and decrees, this is what we should consider our lawful spiritual weekly tithe to God as 16.8 hours of service at the altar of God, including our Tuesday and Wednesday services, nightly Astreas, rosaries and early morning vigils. We abundantly celebrate the Lord’s Sabbath. But we do it according to the ritual, the great rituals that come to us in the Aquarian age. We do it by celebrating the Sabbath daily instead of just once a week. In addition, when we meditate on lectures and dictations on spiritual topics, we increase the Sabbath by many hours.
In so keeping the commandments and especially the Sabbath, we shall become, as Moses said, a community of priests. He called Israel a nation of priests. We shall also sustain an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. How can you know what these prayer rituals will do for you and the planet if you don’t give them a thirty-three-day trial‑-without missing a service? Test yourself and test the Holy Spirit and see how you will come closer and closer to his sacred fire.
I would like to be able to give with you the holy mantra now. This is the “Call to Fire Breath.” It’s decree number 1.01. We’re going to recite it as a decree once and then we’re going to sing it three times. This is for the fire breath of God to cleanse us of all misuses of the Ten Commandments I have just given and those which follow. Decree 1.01, together.
Decree 1.01, CALL TO THE FIRE BREATH

What is the next most important commandment? This is a very important commandment. Number four, “Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the earth, that thou, the Father has given thee.” Be loving, obedient, respectful, attentive and kind. Obey the God within your parents and pray daily for their healing and enlightenment in every way. Honor your father and mother because you are your father and mother‑-that is the real reason you honor them‑-flesh of their flesh, bone of their bone, gene of their gene. They have given you the vessel of themselves. You take the vessel and build upon it. You inhabit it as your temple. But your spirit hallows it, enlivens it and transforms it into a suitable habitation for your soul.
Honor your father and mother because they made possible your incarnation on earth. You walk this day on planet earth because your parents gave you life and breath through the Holy Spirit. There are many reasons why you should honor your parents. But the gift of life is sacred. Beyond this there is no higher gratitude. Therefore, rejoice in the gift of life and do not fault your parents for not being perfect. You are not perfect either.
The fifth commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” Taking human life is the ultimate crime. We can kill in many ways. We can kill the spirit of someone until they can never rise again. We can kill their soul, kill their love, kill their opportunities and their sense of self-confidence to go out and achieve. We can kill at all levels. But to kill the physical body is to snuff out the opportunity for all of these and much more blessings.
Cain killed his brother, Abel, in the first recorded slaying. He denied responsibility for his brother or his brother’s death saying, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” This is the sum of the anti-Holy Spirit attitude. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Yes, you are your brother’s keeper.
Taking human life is the ultimate crime! Because it is taking the life of God in man. Taking human life, whether through murder or abortion, is taking God’s life‑-the life that he has ordained for his sons and daughters. When you take human life, the divine spark is snuffed out. The threefold flame is quenched. The soul’s opportunity to work out her salvation in the human body is cut off. And a part of God is denied the opportunity to realize his potential. Take care that you do not crush the hopes, the love, the spirit and the very tender and delicate weavings of those around you who are finding themselves. Do not put out the flame in another. When you think about killing in that vein, you are entering the heart of Jesus in the age of Pisces and you’re entering the heart of the Holy Spirit in the age of Aquarius.
Commandment six, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Literally, this is the definition of adultery: adultery is defined as “voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband.” Be faithful to God, your divine spouse, and then you will be faithful to your human spouse. Be faithful to your children. Be faithful to your dharma. Embody virtues of responsibility and face, faithfulness to duty without allowing divisiveness within the family. Be honorable in your profession and do not practice dishonesty.
If you have an adulterous heart, do not live in denial of it but conquer it. And do not allow guilt or shame to overtake you if you have committed adultery, but resolve to go and sin no more. Offer a penance to God, perhaps some service to the community, and a tangible gift on his altar. Transcend the passions of adultery by sublimating them with community service and a higher, more spiritual love for all.
Use the bija mantras to the Divine Mother to raise the sacred fire from the base chakra to the crown chakra. Habitual abuses of sexual energy attract to your lower chakras discarnate entities and sex entities so that you are pulling not just against your own momentums but the momentums of foul spirits that have now become attracted to your misuses of the sacred fire. These need to be exorcised.
If you’ll raise that sacred fire, then you will be in love with the Divine Mother, you will discipline your energies, and ultimately you will chee, achieve enlightenment. If there’s no fuel in your upper chakras, if it’s all wasted on the lower chakras, then there is nothing to give you enlightenment because you have no fuel in your crown chakra. Life is intended to be in balance. God has given us the opportunity to be in balance, and the state of matrimony is that balance.
Commandment seven, “Thou shalt not steal.” Acquire what you have lawfully earned in the marketplace. Do not take to yourself what you have not lawfully earned. If you or your family are starving, you must beg your daily bread from your God and those who are his compassionate instruments. Trust in the Lord and trust in the Lord who dwells in your heart even while you get training in a trade or profession. Thereby lawfully earn your daily bread.
Ask God’s intercession to deliver you from the addictive thrill of stealing. Stealing is an addiction. It creates a rush. It is playing with life and death. It is playing with the police and it is a disease that must be cast out. Ask God’s intercession to deliver you from the addictive thrill of stealing and keep praying for that until you are stripped of it if you have this tendency.
Teach your children that stealing is a crime. Give them stern penances for stealing lest it become a lifelong habit. To steal is to deny that the Spirit of God who lives within you can and does provide you with all your needs and a bountiful cup of blessings that runneth over.
Nevertheless, it is important that each one of us be satisfied with our karmic lot, our karmic station, and know that God will increase your supply as your karma allows. Do not compare your poverty to your neighbor’s riches.
To steal is to lie. The lie is that you are neither whole nor complete. Therefore you must make yourself whole or complete by stealing, by adding unto yourself something you don’t have. The lie is that you will be complete only if you take flesh and blood and money and things from another. Do not accept that lie. But know that you have the complete seed of God within you and therefore you are entitled to the abundant life.
Commandment eight, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” Don’t lie about your neighbor. Do not accuse, malign or gossip about family, friends, acquaintances or public figures. Extol the good. Shun the evil. Paul summed up true neighborliness in these words, one of, I’m sure, yours and my favorite passages. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Commandment number nine, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.” Lusting after anything that is not yours, especially your neighbor’s wife, can be summed up in the saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.” It looks better than what you have, but when you take a closer look, you’d rather have your own karmic lot and your own dharma than another’s. Lusting after another’s wife does not show the virtues of faithfulness and loyalty that should support all human relationships. Not our desires but our principles must govern our thoughts and our actions. If this is too hard for you, ask the Holy Spirit to purge you of all wrong desire. And do your own purging as well.
The tenth commandment, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods.” Envy. Jealousy. That’s what coveting is all about. It goes along with lying and stealing, imagining that somebody else has something that you don’t have and wanting it. Be content with your karmic lot. Work out your own karma (your salvation) and do not desire another’s dharma. Do not desire to possess the things of this world. Lay up treasure in heaven as Jesus said in the form of good works and you will not covet your neighbor’s goods.
Jesus gave the solution for the abundant life that is lawful: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” God desires you to have the riches of the Holy Spirit. And he will not deny you the necessities of life.

What is the Holy Spirit?
Third Person of the Trinity; the omnipresence of God; the cloven tongues of fire that focus the Father-Mother God, also called the sacred fire; the energies of Life that infuse a cosmos. In the Hindu Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, the Holy Spirit corresponds to Shiva, known as the Destroyer/Deliverer because his all-consuming Love, when invoked in the planes of Matter, binds the forces of evil and transmutes the cause and effect of man’s miscreations, thus delivering him from the prison house of karma and its dark denizens.
Prana is the essence of the Holy Spirit that we take in by the sacred fire breath through the chakras to nourish the four lower bodies. The Holy Spirit focuses the balance of the Father-Mother God in the white-fire core of being. The exorcism of foul spirits and unclean entities is accomplished by the sacred fire of the Holy Spirit in the name of Christ and the I AM THAT I AM. The nine gifts of the Spirit are powers conveyed to the Lord’s servants to bind death and hell and work his works on earth.
The Person and the Flame of the Holy Spirit is the Comforter whom Jesus promised would come when our Lord took his leave—to enlighten us, to teach us, and to bring all things to our remembrance that beloved Jesus has taught us, both in heaven and on earth. Each time a son or daughter of God ascends into the Presence of the I AM THAT I AM, the Holy Spirit descends to fill the void and to magnify the Lord’s Presence on earth. This is the ritual of the descent of the Holy Ghost promised by Jesus to his disciples when the Master said, “Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high,” which took place on Pentecost.
The nine gifts
The nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are (1) the word of wisdom, (2) the word of knowledge, (3) faith, (4) healing, (5) the working of miracles, (6) prophecy, (7) the discerning of spirits, (8) divers kinds of tongues, (9) the interpretation of tongues.
