LECTURE TRANSCRIPT
One thing that’s very important is to realize that we not only talk to God but we talk to ourselves. And the reason we talk to ourselves is we want to let ourselves know that we mean business when we have made a commitment to God, a commitment to do a, a certain task, to do a certain job that El Morya or the Ascended Masters need to have done or our local people who in our cities who are in, in charge of schools–whatever.
So a commitment is the pivotal point of Capricorn at it, and that is why it is at the very beginning of the 12 o’clock line. So, if we are to make a call and an affirmation, if I were to make it for myself and I will make it for myself as an example, I have to make a determination within my being that is so intense, that is so fiery, that is so absolute that I’m not going to break that that I have given myself this release of fire. And therefore I keep to it, I stay with it, I will not be moved, I will not be turned back, I will not be turned around.
If I decide to do this, then I go all the way Home with God, because I don’t see any other way to do it. If one is really honest with oneself and with one’s God and we make a commitment, then it should be between us and every Ascended Master in the universe. And we should take it as that and we should feel the sense of the tremendous holiness of God in our midst, the holiness of the seraphim, the holiness of all these beings of light who are tarrying with this poor planet to bring us Home. So here’s my invocation.
“Before Almighty God, I affirm that I will have my victory of love on the 12 o’clock line in this life, today, tomorrow, and every day of my life. In the name of my Mighty I AM Presence and Holy Christ Self, I demand the full power of the action of Capricorn in my life. I call for that positive spiral. I call for that victory now. I accept it now. I accept it in the four quadrants of being.
“I call now to the Great Central Sun, beloved Alpha and Omega and our Father-Mother God. I call to you now and I call in behalf of every lightbearer of this world. We demand the binding of all criticism, condemnation and judgment now. We want it now because we must turn it over, we must bind it, we must cast it into the sacred fire. We demand the binding of all black magic and witchcraft manifesting within our consciousness, being and world. This, Almighty God, we demand. We command it now in your name.
“We call you forth. Step where we stand. Place your Electronic Presence over us. Let our own Holy Christ Self now envelop us and stand over us, that all that we have pledged to be what shall come to pass. This we therefore command, and this we demand. Therefore, O Solar Logoi, hear our call and answer in this hour. And if at any time in our lives, past, present or future, we have made vows and commitments and, and have not kept them we call upon the Law of Forgiveness, and we also shall give ourselves a penance for that.
“Almighty God, hear us, for we give our call now, whether for the dying, the sick, the child, all those in pain, whether worlds in that are crumbling, whether civilizations are going down or up. Almighty God, place the fire of Capricorn within us. We accept it, we accept it done this hour in full power, and we seal ourselves to this goal.”
We have said these, and I don’t see any reason why I need to give them again unless you want me to do so. It’s the criticism, condemnation block. That’s very serious. It’s very serious for every, every nation in the world whose citizens engage in it. The black magic is absolutely, has to go. It has to go, and we know it’s all over. We know it’s all over the hemisphere. It’s all over the world.
We call for the action of the sacred fire for the positive manifestation of Capricorn, and we ask the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood and all saints and ascended beings of heaven. We call now for these attributes and mighty virtues to be ensconced in the heart flames of these devotees gathered here, that they might be organized, ambitious, responsible, practical, serious, efficient, strong desire to succeed, hard-working and patient in pursuit of goals, leadership, self-disciplined, right use of power in the social and political context.
And we pledge this day to encircle and bind all negatives such as intolerance, suspicion, stubborn, delays, restriction, sense of limitation, pessimistic, melancholy, depressed, snobbish, aloof, austere, exploit social and political power, ruthless and blind ambition.
So now we begin to understand that these are all a part of ourselves, and yet we have the empowerment from the Seven Mighty Elohim of God, from the saints in heaven to undo this. And we undo it through the episodes of Odysseus.
So I can tell you a little bit about my mission and my vision. And the first thing I want to tell about my mission statement and my vision statement is that it is absolutely clear to me, and has been for a long, long time, that if my mission were not my all-consuming life that I would have long ago failed.
Because I have seen such intense energy against me, whether it has been newspapers that have been put out all around the world about we, about me which are half-truths or, you know, whatever it is, whatever people have said about me, whatever people have done to me, you know. Whatever has happened to me in my life it is because of my mission and vision that says “I will stand where I am and I will still stand.” And if you do that, you will absolutely have your victory in this life. No one can move you but yourself.
It’s a funny thing. I was out in the country quite a distance from my home in New Jersey, and I was about five or six years old, and my mother was driving somewhere. And along came this big piece of land, this very dark building, a big, huge, chain-link fenk, fence around it. And I said to my mother, “What’s that?” And she said to me, “Oh, that’s the insane asylum.” And so I said, “Well, what’s an insane asylum?” And she said, “Well, they’re, those are the people that are mentally ill.” And I said to her, “Well, when I grow up I’m going to heal those people.” So [laughter, 7-second applause]
So I want to reiterate again, one of my passions is healing, but healing comes to those who help themselves also. And that what, that’s what we have to remember. Healing comes at many levels and all kinds of different ways that we can get to our healing. And that, that’s a long story its, in itself.
So I want to say again that if you don’t have a passion you won’t make it in life. It’s either have a passion or become mediocre, that nobody cares whether you’re here or you’re not because where’s the fire? No fire, no victory.
Last summer I was working with Gilbert Cleirbaut and I, and we were working with Summit University. And what we found that most of the people who attended Summit ver, University last summer found it difficult to define a realistic mission and vision statement, something that was really concrete. It was like a pie in the sky kind of thing–well, I want to have a mansion, I want to live here, I want to have plenty of money, I want to do this, I want to do that.
And we couldn’t talk to the students. We could hardly talk them out of getting down to the really, the really deep core of our being from which springs the wellspring of life and the energy and the consciousness and the determination and the excitement of really transcending oneself.
So what they tell me is that most people spend more time on a car or a wedding dress than on their mission and vision statement. So this is a very important thing to accomplish during this Summit University class before you leave. So right now I thought maybe we could get together for group discussion in how many people to a circle, whatever you like, and we’ll talk about the keys for overcoming the Capricorn challenges.
And if you’ve had a major challenge in your life at whatever age, tell one another in your circle. Share information of how you triumphed over negative things and how you excelled, truly excelled, in the positive aspects of Capricorn, cause all of you have done it. So make some circles of chairs and start talking to each other.
What we find in our groups is that so many of us have the inability to forgive ourselves, to forgive ourselves. I’ve looked through quite a few books on this subject. And what I see is that our ancestors, our present parents, our grandparents, our great-grandparents–they reared us differently. A certain percentage of people rear children with love, and probably a greater percentage rear children with sternness in the old school.
So it’s almost as if we’re carrying a load on our back, like a big rock, like the hunchback of Notre Dame. That’s how it feels. When we realize that our parents thought they were doing a good thing for us in the way they treated us, we can vergi, we can fe, begin the forgiveness process.
There is a very good book out that is called Forgiveness and How to Forgive. And maybe we can have it here before the end of the seminar. But there is so much to forgiveness that it’s quite an amazing subject. The bottom line is: we must forgive our parents, and if necessary our grandparents and our great-g, grandparents and so forth. We also want to forgive ourselves. This nonforgiveness, then, turns around and ties into the negative Capricorn of criticism, condemnation and judgment. And then it deteriorates, as we know, into black magic.
So forgiveness is the quality of mercy. We know that when Jesus was asked about how many times someone should pray, should go through the situation of being chastened, he said 70 times 7. So we know that we must forgive in order to enter the kingdom of God in order to alt, to kneel before the altar and to make our confessions so that we feel right with God and right with everything that we’re doing.
So I was suggesting in one of our groups that we forgive ourselves, we forgive our parents, we start a new life. We realize that people were ignorant in the past. We realize that people were angry in the past. We realize that were, there were no such therapy centers or places of psychology where people could go. It’s only very recently in this century that there’s so much available for healing. So forgiving yourself is very, very important. But when you forgive yourself, also ask God to forgive you.
So let’s look at these challenges.
Spiritual keys for navigating through Capricorn.
Capricorn challenges: The first key for navigating through Capricorn challenges: Claim your inner power, conserve it, and use it wisely. Inner power is sealed in your chakras. You must conserve it because there are days when you need it, when you need a tremendous amount of power to overcome whatever you are overcoming. So use the energy that God gave you wisely and respect the sacred fire of the Kundalini.
Second key for navigating through Capricorn challenges: Whenever you have a Capricorn test, there is always the potential to misuse power–misuse power. When you see those words put together, put them in a list in one of your pages. So that you can go back, when you’re dealing with power you know you are dealing with power. Maybe you are misusing power, maybe you are not. But the potential is there. And because we know the potential is there we must draw in the reins and say, I will not misqualify the uses of God’s power.
Now some of you have said as I have walked through you, Well, how do we do that? Now how do we stop misusing power? Well, you can bite your lip until it bleeds. You can button your lip. You can just make up your mind and say to yourself, I’m fed up with me being the way I am and I’m not going to do this anymore. It’s a waste of my time and I’m not honoring God, so I’m going to forget it and move on.
You know what, I think some of us don’t feel we have the power to m, to do that. We think somebody has to do it for us. We are empowered people. God made us empowered from the beginning–all the people of the world. Some of us decided to take that promise all the way down to the present to this seminar. But think about it: You have the power in you to kick that habit.
I remember when I went to Washington, D.C. to be trained as a Messenger. And I literally pulled out my roots, packed my bags, left where I was because El Morya said, Leave now. That was quite a thing. I think I was about 22 years old. And so this was such a traumatic experience for me, just leaving, just go, leave, go to Washington. I’m going to train you. Morya came right into my room. He, he might as well have been physical, and he said, Go to Washington. I’m going to train you to be a Messenger through Mark Prophet. So I said, Fine, I’m going, you know.
I got in the car, packed my stuff, and Mark drove me to Washington. Well, it was so traumatic for me to pull up my roots that most of the time all the way down I was crying. It was such a sudden thing. But I knew I wanted to do it. I was absolutely certain I wanted to do it. So I got there. I had ties I had to sever, people I had to disconnect with.
And so I knelt at my bed and I called to El Morya and I said, El Morya–I had, I had his picture framed, right on my bed. And I said, “El Morya, I know that by tomorrow morning all of this is going to be into the flame.” And I had this absolute conviction that’s exactly what was going to happen. I said, “El Morya, I know you’re going to take this from me, and tomorrow starts my training and I’m going to do it.”
I got up the next morning. There was not even a hint of any burden, any energy, any anything. I was ready for my mission and I believe that the reason that that mission happened at that time is that I had the faith that El Morya would take me where I needed to be. You can do the same. God will do anything for you. God loves you. God loves you so much. Get rid of all this junk on the Capricorn misqualification signs and let’s get on with it. Let’s believe in God. We need to be believers.
The key to the right use of power is joining your will to God’s will. That’s what it’s all about, joining your will to God’s will. Can’t do it alone. Ask yourself: Am I using my power the way God would use it? The way he would use it, not the way I would use it. Or pick a saint or an Ascended Master and ask yourself, Are you using power the way they would, or have you fashioned your own personal style of power where you tricked yourself into believing that you’re, you’re not misusing power but you are? The carnal mind, you know, has devious ways.
Invite God to show you how to use power in the specific situations you face. God is very specific. We started today telling him our troubles. Let’s end today telling him our troubles.
The third key for naiv, for navigating through Capricorn challenges: If you want more power, you have to love God more than you love anything else. Do you love anything else more that you love God? Do you love your car more? your wife more? your husband more? your dog more? your this more, your that more, your the next thing more? There’s only one God and we love him the most of all. Remember that. When you give everything of your love to God, he gives all of his love back to you.
God will not give you power if your motive is anything other than love. God will not give you power if your motive is anything other than love. When you love, you are sensitive. And when you are sensitive, God can trust you not to use power to abuse others. Now we can abuse others in other ways. We can see how children tease one another but the teasing is malicious. They’re mean to one another. They get even with one another. They do this, they do that, but so do adults. That’s, that’s the scary part of it. Adults behave like children. When you are sensitive God can trust you not to use power to abuse others. That’s why love is the ultimate empowerment. Love is the ultimate empowerment.
Fourth key for navigating through Capricorn challenges: If you lack staying power and drive, concentrate on developing the positive qualities of Capricorn. Study the lives of great Capricorns. Mark Prophet was a Capricorn. How did he express the positive impulse of, of Capricorn? He was a leader. He built our organization from scratch. He didn’t just keep the teachings he received to himself but used the power God gave him to build The Summit Lighthouse. Mark was down to earth and practical. He made love practical through his works. This I know. I saw him every day for 12 years. I know that love was the propelling force of his life.
For each line of the clock we have picked one or two mantras of Kuan Yin to help you pass your tests on that line. These Kuan Yin mantras are taken from “The Thirty-Three Manifestations of Avalokitesvara as Kuan Yin,” number 672 in your songbook. They are also a part of “Kuan Yin’s Crystal Rosary.”
In Buddhist teaching Kuan Yin can appear in 33 forms, different forms according to the type of being she is trying to save. Isn’t that interesting? Think about that. If Kuan Yin is going to come and save you, she’s going to appear to you in the specific form that you will recognize her, and she will show you and teach you. She will create a specefi, a specific form for you personally because she wants to save you.
When we give the mantras that invoke these manifestations we are calling for that particular quality and manifestation of Kuan Yin to be with us and to reinforce us. So may we play this? I’m going to give the words first. Okay.
This mantra means “Homage to the sacred name of Kuan Yin of the dragon head. In this manifestation Kuan Yin rides on the head of a dragon which is considered to be the king of all animals. The dragon symbolizes Kuan Yin’s great power, and represents the entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood. You can use this mantra to invoke the all-power of heaven and earth at Kuan Yin’s command.” Okay, let us sing this now.

This Lecture THE ODYSSEY OF YOUR SOUL: 12 O’CLOCK LINE (Part 3 of 3) was given by Elizabeth Clare Prophet on July 9, 1997 at San Diego State University as part of the Heart to Heart Summit University Seminar 1997.
Who is the Maha Chohan?
As the Representative of the Holy Spirit, the Maha Chohan embodies the white light of all the rays and teaches the sevenfold balance of the rays of the Seven Mighty Elohim, which in turn manifest upon the brow of the initiate as a crown of crystal light when that God-mastery of the seven rays is reached.
The Maha Chohan is a very present help to all who call to him. Because of his pledge to all mankind “I am keeping the flame for you until you are able,” this truly Great Lord is called the Keeper of the Flame. He is the endower of Christ-mastery through the disciplines of right choice and right action—patterned after the eightfold path of Lord Gautama Buddha, which parallels the path taught and demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
These disciplines are accomplished through the mastery of free will, of the desires and the desire body, and of the path of the Sacred Heart and the Ruby Ray as the initiate balances the threefold flame and attains equilibrium in the white light of the seven rays in his chakras. Engaging in service to Community—the world body of Lightbearers—by the engagement of one’s forces, body, mind and soul, is the means to accomplish this goal.
Representative of the Holy Spirit
The Maha Chohan is the representative of the Holy Spirit. The one who holds this office in hierarchy represents the Holy Spirit of the Father-Mother God, of Alpha and Omega, to the evolutions of this planet and to the elemental kingdom. The retreat of the Maha Chohan, the Temple of Comfort, is located on the etheric plane with a focus in the physical at the island of Sri Lanka, where the flame of the Holy Spirit and the flame of Comfort are anchored. His twin flame is Pallas Athena, Goddess of Truth.
Maha Chohan means “Great Lord,” and the Maha Chohan is the Great Lord of the seven chohans, the director of the seven chohans of the rays. Among the qualifications for this office in hierarchy is the attainment of adeptship on each of the seven rays, which merge into the pure white light of the Holy Spirit. With the seven chohans, he initiates our souls in preparation to receive the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, spoken of in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.
Since the Spirit of God infuses nature and man as the life-giving essence of the sacred fire, the representative of the Holy Spirit must be qualified to interpenetrate all substance through the diffusion of his consciousness and also to draw forth the flame that sustains life in man and nature through the focalization of his consciousness.
The element that corresponds to the flame of the Holy Spirit is oxygen. Without that element, neither man nor elemental life could continue their service. The consciousness of the Maha Chohan is, therefore, comparable to the Great Central Sun Magnet. He focuses the magnet upon the planet that draws to the earth the emanations from the sun that are required to sustain life.
The Maha Chohan is Present at Your Birth and Death
The Maha Chohan ministers to every person on earth as we enter this world and as we exit it. At the moment of that birth, he is present to breathe the breath of life into the body and to ignite the threefold flame that is lowered into manifestation in the secret chamber of the heart.
The Maha Chohan also attends at the transition called death, when he comes to withdraw the flame of life and to withdraw the holy breath. The flame, or divine spark, returns to the Holy Christ Self, and the soul, clothed in the etheric body, also returns to the level of the Holy Christ Self.

The Maha Chohan’s Previous Lifetimes
The Maha Chohan was embodied as the blind poet Homer, whose epic poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey, include his twin flame, Pallas Athena, as a central figure. The Iliad tells the story of the last year of the Trojan War, while the Odyssey focuses on the return home of Odysseus—one of the heroes of the Trojan War.
Historically, little is known about Homer, but most scholars believe he composed his poems in the eighth or ninth century BC. Even at that time, Homer attuned his consciousness with the comfort flame, and the radiance he sustained with the focus of his own heart flame was a great blessing to elemental life.
In his final embodiment as a shepherd in India, the light that he quietly drew forth kept the flame for millions of lifestreams. He gained his mastery by consecrating his four lower bodies as a chalice for the flame of the Holy Spirit and his consciousness as a step-down transformer for the emanations of Sanat Kumara, the Ancient of Days.
